So are people going out to the movie theatre now? Planning to?
Good question. When I lived in calgary where my kids are we loved the social experience shared during xmas holidays or for a birthday outing. But, being away from them now, on my own..my big screen and sound bar setup does the trick for me. Plus I always find the damn theatres way too loud.

I haven’t played much in last 8,9 months so only thing I can post is movie reviews.

Watched Till Death recently.

It turned out pretty nice actually. It is a thriller and when it started to play, the premise seemed similar to Gerard's Game which I thoroughly enjoyed. Later I realized that this movie takes a different turn.
Husband and wife go to a secluded lake house to get away and rekindle their marriage. Instead, the wife wakes up handcuffed to her husband's dead body!!! Things get very interesting from there on.
It is very well directed and acted, except................... The lead lady. Yes, Megan Fox plays the damsel in distress and with all due respect, the director could have chosen someone else. I commend her for the hard work she must have put in because it did seem to be a very demanding role but frankly her facial expressions never really said much. Her lip gloss stayed on pretty much through out the movie and ........... anyway. I still recommend this movie although sometimes things seemed a bit silly.
Also it is full of blood splattering violence, if that floats your boat.
Recommend: Yes, it is available on IPTV for free.

I also started No Sudden Move. It seemed pretty good but sadly I could not finish it.

I downloaded (via bit torrents) and watched yesterday the new release "Nobody". Talk about a lot of fun to watch. Bob Odenkirk portrays a John Wick like character. Christopher Lloyd plays his dad and is a fun to watch also in his relatively small part. When you get to the "I've Got To Be Me" part of the movie, you will realize you have hit a home run LOL. Strongly recommend.
Absolutely agree with this!!!! A little slow to start but very enjoyable. John Wick with alot more humor. A must watch I'd say :)
Just watched it a few days ago and my only question is how the fuck can this movie have a 7.4 rating on IMDB with 145K peer ratings? Utilizes every predictable cliché ever used in movies! I just kept rolling my eyes and hoping it would get better. It didn't! That's an hour and a half I'll never get back.

Thanks for wasting my time. My only saving grace is I didn't pay to see this incredible heap of shit!

Too bad it wasn't released on DVD (if you guys remember those). I would've stomped on it, doused it in gasoline and set it on fire! 😆

Fuck you too IMDB! 🤣

It's a great action movie from an actor you wouldn't expect. It's not a literary or cinematic masterpiece. What's wrong with some mindless entertainment? Sorry to say but with the ratings stated you're in the minority.

Either you or I didn't "get" this movie, and given that I enjoyed it so thoroughly, I'm thinking it's not me. :)

I thought this was a beautifully crafted movie exactly because of the way it morphed from a serious action movie into a complete comedy. Saying it was full of clichés is, to me, like saying "Blazing Saddles" was full of western clichés, or "Space Balls" was full of sci-fi clichés. Frankly, I think that's the point. I left the theatre having had a lot of laughs. :D

I have downloaded the first but have not watched it yet. The 2nd movie I also downloaded and have watched. I liked it but the computer programmer in me thinks she left a little too much to chance at the end. I will leave it at that. The main actor was nominated for a Golden Globe I believe.

Over the space of some months I have watched 2 Guy Ritchie films that both have a huge number of recognizeable actors, take place in the UK and have a gangster element to them. He seems to like making these kinds of movies. The 2 movies I am referring to are "The Gentlemen" and "RocknRolla". Two other movies mined from the same vein by Guy Ritchie are "Snatch" and "Lock, Stock and Two Barrels". If you have watched any of these movies and liked them, you will likely like the others.
if you like that sort of film, watch "Hot Fuzz"

Pig (2021)

I watched it last night on iptv after reading rave reviews about this movie and it did not disappoint me at all.

The best parts are Nicolas Cage’s performance and the direction. Also it is beautifully shot in Oregon and it does have that Northwest feel to it.

I had a different impression of this movie but it surprised me. Based on the trailers I was expecting a thriller but director keeps it on a different level. So be warned, if you are expecting an action thriller, it is anything but.

I feel that they could’ve picked a better actor for the role of the young man and It seems a bit slow paced at times but I liked it nevertheless.

Recommend: Yes!

8.499 out of ten for me.

ALONE (2020)

Found the title on RT while browsing randomly for thrillers. It is available on IPTV.
So I watched it a few nights ago and enjoyed it.

The premise is simple. A woman travelling alone gets kidnapped and taken to a cabin in the woods. Well, you get the picture. It could’ve been a usual cat and mouse movie but the acting and direction make it tense taut and thrilling.

Looks like it was set around Oregon area. Coincidentally Pig, the last movie I reviewed was also set in same region.

Overall, it is a well acted thriller! 7.5 out of 10.

Recommend: Yes.
Repeat: No

Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. Finally got around to watching it. Star studded cast of British actors nobody cares about.
Pretentious incomprehensible waste of time. Throwback to the days when anybody gave a shit. The fact that the British intelligence was run by Russian moles for over 50 years doesn't help it's case.
The courier. Was actually pretty good. Benedict Cumberbatch ( yes I know) is a good actor. Based on a true story. Again. British spy movie.

I will check out The Courier. It seems fun.
I have to say British do it very differently when it comes to making movies. Look at their comedies. Their sense of 'humour' is certainly very different. I love the American version of it so I tried to watch the original 'Office'. Honestly I gave up.

A friend recommended a film about suicide that sounded dreary and had a terrible title - The Enormity of Life, but it turned out to be funny, really good, emotional and surprising. New this year.

I’m going to assume you have a decent or a hardcore home theatre system to watch all of those movies you got. 😄
Nah, not completely new or state of the art.
Classic 55" plasma with a decent 5.1 surround system"
If any of you guys don't have surround....man, I can't live without surround sound anymore. Adds so much atmosphere and extra pop when the rear speakers are active with sound efx :D Soundbars can't compete.

Sticking with the topic, just watched LA Confidential last night....goddamnnnn! Kim Basinger looked good in this one as a (perfect for our forum) SP :ROFLMAO:.
One of the greatest cop films of all time imo, Spacey, Pearce, and Crowe!

Do you mean the BBC version with Alec Guinness as George Smiley?
