If you haven't caught the Oscar news

Nomadland

Best Picture: Frances McDormand
Best Actress: Frances McDormand
Best Director: Chloé Zhao

Minari

Best Supporting Actress: Youn Yun-jung

Both beautiful slice of life movies. No grand pathos or lessons. It's not another story about The Great White Hope. Just a long hard stare at what the American Dream really means now.
Highly recommended and not because they're award winners but because everyone needs another perspective.

It was McDormand playing the same role she always plays. Why aren't people outraged by this super-rich, white actor playing a poor person? Shouldn't woke Hollyweird demand a poor, struggling actor of colour play that part? It's another blatant example of white privilege.

I assume you are just being sarcastic? At least I hope you are.

I downloaded (via bit torrents) and watched yesterday the new release "Nobody". Talk about a lot of fun to watch. Bob Odenkirk portrays a John Wick like character. Christopher Lloyd plays his dad and is a fun to watch also in his relatively small part. When you get to the "I've Got To Be Me" part of the movie, you will realize you have hit a home run LOL. Strongly recommend.
Absolutely agree with this!!!! A little slow to start but very enjoyable. John Wick with alot more humor. A must watch I'd say :)

For the very woke, this should be an issue, since they seem to complain about any performance that isn't done by an actor that isn't exactly what they are in real life. McDormand, with her husband are two of the wealthiest people in Hollywood.

My picks would have been -
Best Picture -The Trial of the Chicago Seven
Best Actor - Anthony Hopkins
Best Actress - Carey Mulligan

Goodbye Honey:

Caught it accidentally on IPTV box.

A tired female truck driver pulls over in a state park to sleep. A young girl appears and claims she just escaped from captivity and asks the trucker lady to let her hide in the truck. You have to watch the rest yourself. :)

It is a suspense thriller with actors that I don’t think I have ever seen or heard of. Clearly it is not a big studio production so it has some limitations but despite that I enjoyed the movie a lot.

Recommended: Yes 3 out of 5 for me despite sub par production and average acting. Let me know what you think.

Thanks for the tip. Was perusing my iptv last night (firmware updated to a new look and I had bookmarked that one as a 'why not').
I found and watched 'Logan Lucky'. Been wanting to watch that one for a long time. Great flick, lots of laughs, nice twist, and a feel good flick!!

I almost forgot about that one. I am going to watch it next. I remember starting it a while ago but could not finish it. Thanks.

One of the things I most enjoyed about "Logan Lucky" is how completely different Daniel Craig's character is from the one he play in the Bond films. To me that definitely added to the fun. :)

After Knives Out, I have Daniel Craig down as one of my fav actors. His comedic timing is outstanding. Cannot wait for Knives Out 2!! His SNL skits had me in knots.

It made me go looking on IMDB and the same writer did Wick 1 and 3. Still it was a great show and funny too. I laughed near the end when Bob Odenkirk erased the number of accident free days before the final showdown.

Good to see Christopher Lloyd had a decent part in it.

Nobody, with Bob Odenkirk is a hoot.

The new Army of the Dead, with Dave Bautista is a two and a half hour piece of absolute shit from start to finsh. Don't waste your time. Zombie movies aren't supposed to be good, but they have to e entertaining. This is just bad, with some of the worst acting outside a porno.

The two Zombielands are 100% better.
