The Unforgiving (Netflix):
Watched it recently and I had mixed feelings about it. Although editing and some acting is good, there is something missing in it. May be it is the pacing of the film or may be it is the supporting cast. The brightest thing about this movie is Sandra Bullock. I wish I could just walk up to her and yell at her for getting plastic surgery. She was a naturally pretty woman with a very likable personality (Remember Speed?) but then she decided to turn into Michael Jackson. Apart from her and a bit of plot twist, I tried to like the movie, but ..... I can only give it 2.5/5.
PS: A little sidenote, the story is based in Washington state area. You can see that a lot of scenes were filmed in Vancouver. You can notice the mountains clearly. One of the scene where she meets the young girl is filmed at QE Park.
Hellbound: (Netflix):
Seems like the western world has started to realize the quality of Korean movies. I watched the six episodes of season 1 and although I enjoyed it, I wish they had revealed more. But I guess that's why we have to watch Season 2. It is a horror( Well, nothing scary horror though), thriller. Seems like most of the Korean cinema/TV I have watched, had these social undertones e.g. Parasite, Snowpiercer, Squid Game to name a few. This one is about how religion can be used to bend people's perception and for personal benefits. Apart from the three monsters looking a bit too CGI'ed, (I am not spoiling anything, you see them within first few minutes of the first episodes), rest if pretty enjoyable, albeit slow at times.
The best part was Kim Hyun-joo. What a cute girl!! She should be in Hollywood.
4/5 for me.
