The Greatest Showman:

a surprisingly feel good movie. interesting life themes done simply well
and a kick ass soundtrack throughout. not for the testosterone fueled crowd but
for the more creative thinker type.

Jackman is one talented dude, have seen his Wolverine role
but this role shows the man can also sing.

and Zendaya looked pretty delicious in her trapeze outfit.

Black Panther

I usually rely on Rotten Tomatoes and this movie was rated very high so I went for it. Since it is available in 3D as well so I decided to spend some extra money.

I am not much into superhero stuff. The last one I watched was Gal Gardot. oops, I meant Wonder Woman. I sat thru it because of a beautiful woman on the screen.

Black Panther is sci-fi, fantasy, super hero, action all blended together. Stunningly beautiful, lots of action, great costumes made this movie bearable (for me). I found it too long (135 long minutes). A bit too .. gloomy. I was checking my watch after about 50 minutes. Ten fifteen minutes in and I knew it was not for me. Luckily I loved looking at Lupita Nyong'o. She has this flawless dark skin. Beautiful girl, I think.

Having said that, it is fairly well acted. Slowly you get the idea that they have tried to hide a subtle message in the movie. There are talks about black slavery, socio-economic condition of black population in the US and political conditions that we live in nowadays.

Overall a decent movie and for some reason I did not find it worth 97% rating.

I can't really recommend it and no repeat either.

Thanks 8, I'm going anyhow. The SO wanted me to take her to Coco. Tossup, BP easier to get to. I shared your feelings on WW, we walked out 2/3 way thru. Not enough character development

Re WW, Gal Gardot's beauty (although I wished she had a few more pounds on) kept my butt in the seat.

I took my family to see BP. Even kids seemed to be a bit bored.

We should've watched Paddington 2 instead. We watched part one and it was full on fun for family.

Molly's Game looks very interesting...I liked her in Zero Dark Thirty.
Black Panther..... I 'll wait and find it to watch for free so I can just push the OFF button and money in my pocket.

Coincidentally, I watched Paddington 2 just yesterday. It might be better than the first one. Plenty of sight gags, funny dialogue and Hugh grant is great as a master-of-disguise villain.

Coco was awesome; not much of a kids movie though! Seriously , if I had little kids , I wouldn't want them to see it.

I'm not a huge Brad Pitt fan, but I watched Fury.
It's about tank units in WW2.....the end was a little Americanized, with a few guys against 2 or 3 hundred SS, but it was pretty good.

Remember all those really bad horror flicks that went straight to video back in the day?

Where people would put themselves in stupid situations or do things that just made you groan and roll your eyes?

I just sat through this one and I was left incredulous at the stupidity. At every turn it was like "WTF??"

But as it went on I just started to laugh! Then giggle. Thank god I wasn't watching in a theater!

Spoiler Alert :

The ending where he purposely steps into the trap and jumps off the cliff I thought was incredibly stupid. He could have done so many other things that would have been just as likely to succeed and a lot less painful!

The Post

If you are a history / news junkie like me, you will like Spielberg's film about "The Pentagon Papers". If not, you may want to pass on this one. I liked it from a historical perspective with Katherine Graham as the Publisher and Ben Bradlee as the editor of the Post trying to get this 44,000 page document published against the wishes of the Post's Board and the Whitehouse. This story precedes Watergate.

The papers highlighted more than 30 years of the US Govt lying to it's citizens about the Vietnam War. Not political IMO because different administrations of both stripes all had their hand in keeping the war machine running. Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson and Nixon all kept the big dirty secret going that the Vietnam war was not winnable. As early as 1966, CIA (researchers) operatives in the field reported that the war was not going well and putting more soldier's lives at risk.

If you like movies with out an actual ending ,then see this film. I was ROYALLY pissed at the unfinished story!
Very strange movie. Pierce Brosnan can act circles around Jackie Chan. Huge mistake on Chan's part to have someone that can actually act in the same movie as he is in. PB was actually pretty good in this film. But the film itself was awful.

Unlocked on Netflix. Very low rating on Rotten Tomatoes but I enjoyed it. Oh well.

I like Noomi Rapace's work and the movie has some other solid actors.

That was just the last stupid moment. There were too many to pick from, for me to pick any one out. It occurred to me that the writers had no clue.
About ... well, anything that a normal person would do.
With a gun, a knife, a bow etc. etc. ad nauseum

Truly wondrous in it's stupidity. I actually would recommend it ... for a giggle.

Following on the heels of last summer's Dunkirk is Gary
Oldman's portrayal of Churchill in Darkest Hour .

We gave it our two :thumb: up!

I think he is brilliant and that's because I'm a fan of almost all
his work. Watch his range from "The Professional" to "Dracula" to "Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy" and now "Darkest Hour".
You heard it here first!

Go see Three Billboards outside Ebbing,Missouri

Two of my favourite movies in the theatre won best actor Oldman, best actress McDormand and best supporting actor Sam Rockwell.
Two quality films IMO
