I just rented it.

Really powerful, especially if you have worked in the north. It reminded me from many years ago North of Fort Nelson and the attitudes towards women.

Based on a 'collection of facts'. Rapes and murders of First Nations women are in documented in the USA. I'm unsure about Canada but found it quite shocking.

The writing and Jeremy Rener's performance makes it worth renting. I wish I had seen it in the theatre.

"Tangerine" - This is like no film I've ever seen. Shot entirely using 3 iphones. AllMost entirely a cast of unknown actors, filmed in Hollywood.
Story centred around 2 transgendered streetwalkers, one of them freshly out of jail looking for her cheating pimp/boyfriend, sub-plots include an armenian taxi driver and his family (no subtitles-very strange), the cheating ho and her nest of whores, and singing gig.
All happening one christmas eve.
6.5/10

"Wonderwoman" geez, what an over-rated movie.

Remember (2015) Christopher Plummer & Martin Landau. A masterful performance by Plummer, filmed in Canada & directed by Atom Egogan. Not an easy film to watch at times, but also impossible to STOP watching. Don't spoil it for yourself...just watch it.

The Man Who Invented Christmas;

a second reccommendation for Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri

and another vote for Tangerine.

If anyone enjoys Sam Rockwell in Three Billboards, he turned in a fantastic performance in an older (2009) movie called Moon.

OMG yes what a good film! The twist in the final climactic scene I just did not see that coming, how could I have missed that one such Egoyan wizardry.

I KNOW! I actually thought I had it figured out but then I didn't...I watched it with someone who'd seen it, & they didn't give anything away, but did say after how much he enjoyed seeing the very subtle clues along the way to the end!

"Future Man"

If you need a good laugh, highly recommend this series.
Excellent writing, the cast really play off one another in a comedic flow, the story is like modern Dr. who, 8/10

Ep. 9 was especially funny. I am thinking of these 2 scenes: 1) The barbeque surprise scene 2) The birthday surprise scene. lol

I would describe the series as "The Last Starfighter" meets "12 Monkeys".

I worked nine winters based out of south west Missouri. It's the Ozarks, hillbilly country for sure. Jethro Bodine was one of my neighbours. There is no Ebbing MO but it could have been one of hundreds of little towns. I'll go just to see if I recognise the location.

The Foreigner
Decent movie. Nothing too remarkable. Only difference is that both lead guys, Brosnon and Jackie Chan doing role that they are usually not cast for. Pretty fast paced, good action based on a book. A 60 yr old Chinese guy trying to find bad guys. 2.5/5 for me.

"Tucker & Dale vs Evil"

This hillbilly comedy flew under everybodys radar, which is a shame because it is hilariously funny.
Combine Cabin in the Woods with Scary Movie, very clever stunts, comedic cast and dialogue, and sit back with a drink.
2 hillbillys crosss paths with group of college kids in an isolated forest/cabin/lake site, then the bodies start piling up.
7.5/ 10

The Last Jedi

Star Wars fan right from the beginning, so my perception is going to be skewed.
Very conflicted.
I won't give any spoilers but there was a mix or awesome and awful.
There are a lot of inside jokes and stuff that would not mean anything to anyone but die hard fans.

I found Bronson's acting much more convincing than Chan's. Chan seemed to be sleep walking thru his scenes. It was a "just ok" movie despite Chan, certainly not because of Chan.

Following on the heels of last summer's Dunkirk is Gary
Oldman's portrayal of Churchill in Darkest Hour .

We gave it our two :thumb: up!

I think he is brilliant and that's because I'm a fan of almost all
his work. Watch his range from "The Professional" to "Dracula" to "Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy" and now "Darkest Hour".

Gary Oldman is a brilliant actor. Two days ago, there was a category on him on Jeopardy, my fav show!! It was something about how Gary Oldman dies in movies. lol. That is pretty incredible.

Saw an advance screening of I, Tonya. (I htink it comes out in early January).

Could be the best movie I've seen this year. Interesting structure, seamless CGI on skating sequences and phenomenal acting by Allison Jnney and Margo Robbie.
