Is anyone else finding this situation completely insane? A billion dollar aircraft using a half a million dollar sidewinder to shoot down a fifty dollar balloon which our multi million CF18’s couldn’t shoot down? Or am I getting old and cynical?

The America Press is heating up again, with the indictment of Trump.
The way I look at it Trump took an oath of office to uphold the US Constitution. He tried to overthrow the election on Jan 6 2021, breaking his oath of office.
I don't see how any American could/would vote for him again just on this issue.
I hope the American press hammer him with the facts, and see through the smoke screens (misinformation) he is putting up.
Trumps tactic will be to delay, delay, delay the court cases, until the Republican National convention in July 2024; in the hope to win and become the Republican candidate for 2024.

Unfortunately there are still many that support him. Don't underestimate this con artist. Make no mistake, he can still win. Its a cult and I must say lots of American don't really get it.

There was an interesting exchange on twitter when Mar a Lago got raided.
A MAGAette wanted to know why Trump's lawyers were not allowed to watch the FBI raid.
A few people explained that if LE have a warrant they have no obligation to allow you to watch the raid.
Many more pointed out that three of Trump's DID watch the raid. The lawyers said so themselves in the media.
Despite this the same MAGAette tweeted the same demand again and again for days.
She's ignoring actual facts and repeating the bullshit Trump lies. Cult indeed.
Same with the BS story about Hunter's laptop. GOP had months to find enough evidence for a formal investigation. Never found it. But they keep milking the story.

These are tactics generally used going after either large businesses or large crime organizations where if you are a member of the 'group' you get indicted. Classic RICO stuff. Both the NY and Georgia state indictments also cannot be pardoned at the federal level 
But wait there's more! The particular judge who is black and a woman is known to get things done and fast, so this particular set of crimes (attempts to overturn the election -- remember, find me 11678 votes) will move pretty briskly.

Well Giuliani getting hit with RICO charges is mildly hilarious.
Trump is hosting a $100,000 a plate fundraiser for Rudy. I thought raising money for a prosecution witness was a vIolation of his bond. But knowing Trump he’ll pocket it all and give Rudy a pittance.
While I think they are all 100% guilty - it is really fucking obvious what they tried to do, how they tried to do it. The only question is whether a court can actually prove what everyone already knows.
Frankly, I think there is a zero percent chance the big boss will be convicted and do actual prison time. Certainly not before the next presidential election.
The US "justice" system is even more arcane and fucked up than ours. The process will take years, not months. The reason is: appeals.
The defendants will just appeal the fuck out of every decision big or small that goes against them, and even if reasonable judges uphold the convictions at lower levels, when it gets to the US Supreme court - which is totally partisan and where fanatical GOP appointees dominate - then there will be a completely partisan decision to let the orange gobshite go free.
The GOP will only turn its back on him if he makes it to a general election and loses even harder than last time. It won't be because they respect the judgement of the people, but because they are ambitious opportunists with a cowardly streak; most are too chicken shit to go against him while his (armed, lunatic) cult of personality is so strong. However, they are definitely hoping something else takes him out and they think they can be the ones who take it over. Get rid of patents to increase the competition (would apply to only a us based company manufacturing in the US- sounds like communism....). Tax increase on major corporations that have factories overseas and not a single one in the US. Any company on the US stock market must have its corporate HQ in the US, not in a tax haven to save on taxes. Tax the rich at a higher rate (40% over 1/2 million). Ban upsellers on amazon. Set high environmental controls for water reclamation, smoke etc to save the environment for future generations. Why, because it is a right thing to do. The reality of making america great again is to bring back manufacturing to the US, and still maintain high environmental controls. The higher wages people demand will be make up by the increase of tax revenues (land and income tax), increasing the standard of living. The people will be able to afford more things etc.
Health care for all.
Make all CEO, CFO and all major stock holders (at the time) personally responsible for any environmental damage. Make companies take out insurance/bonds on all sites of manufacturing against environmental damage.
So as I look at past celebrity court cases, their usually are some hot-shot lawyers that have gone to bat for those celebrities. So where are Trumps hot-shot lawyers?

Trump’s doesn’t pay them. He has a well documented record of not paying his bills. Many contractors who did work for him in the past were ruined by him not paying them.

Having looked at them all, a little bit, they really are a sorry collection of mostly wankers.
I think they all know Trump will win the GOP nomination, because the cult of personality is too strong. I would say most of them are running to be the vice-presidential nominee, perhaps a future cabinet member.
However, if Trump is either imprisoned or suddenly croaks, these same people are counting on the membership to choose them as the alternative. (I think these guys are dreaming; the cult would push for a son or son in law in that role if Trump is taken out.)
