That’s some kind of crazy alternate reality you inhabit. Must be lonely there.
Unfortunately it's the same sort of propaganda the CCP is pushing to its populous. The concept that people ingest such garbage is quite shocking to put it mildly.

If you really want to see what's going on in Ukraine, hop on Telegram and Reddit... but you might not sleep well... unfiltered is basically the beach scene from saving private ryan. Russians are getting whopped .. but they are just going to keep throwing numbers at the problem until they get results. Ukraine basically has to keep the meat grinder churning and hope that the russians get tired of the casualty rates... not sure that Putin really gives a fuck about his people and how many die tho.

Anyone who thinks Russia is in the right here, or Nato is bad, go live there then. You want the freedoms that you enjoy in Canada, better get on the right side.

Slava Ukraini!

Don't try that "America defines all western (including Canadian) freedoms, and we must follow their lead" argument. The Americans did not invent freedom or democracy, nor ever grant it to us like some sort of god we must obey to have it.

I don't wish Ukraine badly, they are for sure victims of the situation, but I'll never root for US ambitions, knowing the full history behind what's going on. Ukraine is bleeding because it is caught between US ambition and Russian anger. They could have been neutral, and had peace instead, but that option was dismissed out of hand. "Unprovoked war", my ass - the media is lying its ass off about that part. To believe that, you'd have to pretend like everything before 2022 never happened - 20 years of "nope, nothing to see here" going on, and then suddenly a war.

Maybe NATO should have been disbanded when as the Cold War ended, instead of sticking around long enough to cause a new one.

You smell like Vodka. If NATO wasn't around you might as just hand over the keys to much of Europe.

Yeah that post was as nutty as softrod’s blatherings.
West Germans and Benelux were very happy Canadians were there in the 70s.
People risked everything to get out of East Germany and Czechoslovakia. They had wicked stories.

Like anything else in life some will flinch in face of bullies and their excessive behavior and others will punch back never to be bothered ever again.

You see NATO as an agressor but if you look at most of the timeline of the last 3 decades they were mostly reactive in my book . Not that we can punch Putin in the nose because of the nuclear deterrent but enough about giving him all the leeway he has been given since rising to power.

I have removed a ton of utter nonsense posted by Shakerod from this thread. Alternative opinions are one thing, alternative facts are not. You are free to get your news wherever you like, but like COVID, we are only going to allow sourced facts to be presented here. The concepts brought forward are completely nonsensical and we aren't going to become a propaganda outlet.

Don't reply, don't repost, don't feed the troll, he's looking for attention pure and simple. Don't give it to him. Flag the post, it will be gone.

Confucius said, the victor of war is the one who did not go to war. At the end, even if Putin is right, even if he wins and succeed, he still will be remember as the person who slaughtered his own people. Whatever his purpose will be irrelevant .

The best way to not lose a war is not fight one.
Putin had absolutely nothing to lose by maintaining the status quo. He was rolling in cash from energy sales to Europe and his economy was ok.
This adventure has Russia cost billions of dollars and thousands of Russian lives while devastating the Russian economy.
At best Russia will occupy the western part of Ukraine and suffer constant insurgency, costing more money and lives. Other hot spots may be inspired like Chechnya and Georgia.
Russians will have to decide if it was worth it.

The Russians (Putin) clearly underestimated the resolve and bravery of the Ukrainian leadership, military and citizens. Cowards tend to make that mistake.

Bullies. Unfortunately, too many people are watching and he's not a man who will let anyone disrespect him. There is no graceful exit for him, only a potential double down.

It’s aggravating seeing all the handwringing. Some people lead very sheltered lives and have no idea what evil looks like up close.
When there’s a bunch of thugs killing your neighbours and shooting up your apartment building you don’t offer them a chat with milk and cookies.

So Truduh announces a new round of sanctions against cronies of Putin........have to wonder if announcing that the list was supplied by Navaly.....who is already in a Russian prison and not exactly a friend of Putin and his lot was such a good idea.
