"Star Trek Beyond" (2016)
This was a bit of a disappointment compared to the 2009 edition, cinematography was too dark, story was hard to follow, too much fighting action, not enough character development. 5/10

Don't Breathe Just finished watching it online. Usually I am not into horror movies so I kept on postponing it. Finally I decided to watch it and it turned out to be heck of a thriller!!! Three people break into a house occupied by a blind war vet, thinking it would be an easy loot........ but.... I will let not ruin it for you. It is not really a horror movie but it is tense, violent, relentless and very well directed. There are no easy,
false thrills and scares. Great from start to finish.
Attention to detail, or, the lack of, bothers me.

How did the dog get in the house?

I think many, or most action movies have these ...... bloopers. Some more than the other.

To answer your question about dog getting in, I think the director had a spare key. I mean come on, he is the director. On a serious note, I wouldn't let one glitch bother me.

If you want to watch/stream movies & tv for free, try 123movies.to. http://123movies.to/

No sign up. Top right corner has search for the site.

Clicking will give rise to the occasional pop-up in new tab, but easy enough to quickly close.

I usually google search new titles for a specific year (e.g. "films 2016"), review what comes up, and then use the search in the movie site to locate and view the film.

Where do you think I watch my movies? :)

I recently caught A Simple Plan and North By Northwest. Both are very good. Yes, 123movies.to is where I watch my movies, esp the ones from a few years back.

I saw this not too long ago...not the greatest movie, some of it was pretty unrealistic.. (if I fell from the attic.. onto a glass ceiling.. likely I would go through.. and/or die when I hit ground hehe.. but the kid revives in order to keep the movie going ;)
but, with the crap movies that have come out lately, no, it wasn't bad at all ;)

the dog belongs to the blind guy who's house they are in.. that's probably why he's there ;)

At the risk of providing a spoiler...

The whole premise of this movie is that the house is sealed. All doors and windows are barricaded, which is why the intruders can't get out again. The dog was chained outside. Then it's inside the hallway. How?

hehe same way the kid who fell on the glass... bleeding from his head... managed to get up again.. still have nice pink skin.. (and no visible head wound for some reason.. ;) shitty job at overlooking some obvious things hehe and this was I think the THIRD time he had been subjected to a wound(s) that could/should have had drastic results hehe) and save the girl
<insert emphatic eye roll here please> ;)

The Neon Demon - Independent film by Nicholas Winding Refn (Drive, Only God Forgives). Bizarre dark fantasy about a young aspiring model. It's about vanity, competition, jealousy and hatred. Most people loved it or hated it, but it's one that you'll never forget after you see the ending. Curious to see if anyone on here has seen it.

To make use of an extra hour, I watched '71. I know it is not new but I really wanted to watch it. It came out about a year ago and it's been on my TDL for a while.

It is set in Belfast in 1971 so you get a pretty good idea of what the background is. I found it very tense and intense. Basically a young British soldier gets separated from his battalion during a riot in Belfast and tries to survive through the night in a very hostile territory.

It is well acted and well paced. I found the riot scene very realistic. Even the night scenes in the streets of Belfast give you that grim and eerie feeling. I just wish I could understand the accent a bit better. It kept on reminding me of another awesome movie In the Name of the Father starring Daniel Day Lewis.

Recommended: Yes.

I saw it months ago one night at The Rio. I wouldn't go so far as to say that I loved it but I did mostly dig it. I do have to admit that I just really enjoy the tone and style of this guy's movies and I definitely really liked the look of this one. I read one review where the reviewer drew a comparison to Suspiria and I can kind of see that. But yeah... I did not see that ending coming and I have to give credit to any movie these days that can truly surprise me like that.

I liked the other two of Refn's movies, this one I found a bit more shocking and one that you can't really unsee. Something different and definitely not for everyone.

Hell or High Water - This movie came out a while ago but it didn't make a huge splash. May be because it was only partially released as per Rotten Tomatoes. Anyways, I finally found it online today and I just finished watching it.

Story is pretty simple, two brothers (played very well by Chris Pine and Ben Foster) go around robbing banks in Texas and cops including an about to retire Ranger, played beautifully by Jeff Bridges, are after them. I totally enjoyed it. The story is very well told and it has a human touch to it. It has humor that is dark but very sharp, it captures the Texas landscapes beautifully and I think Jeff Bridges is outstanding. I hope he gets nominated for Oscars for best actor. Also, I loved how it is steadily paced and still it doesn't let your mind wander.

Recommend: Absolutely. I think it is one of the better films I have seen in last while.

Saw Arrival today and was quite disappointed. I found it manipulative and poorly written

All Is Lost - I am always trying to catch up on good movies from past. All is Lost came about two three years ago and finally I saw it a few days ago.

Story is pretty simple. It is a survival story starring Robert Redford, his yacht and open ocean. Basically, the character takes his yacht to get away for a while but things start to go wrong. Rest of the movie is him trying to survive. There are no dialogues except a few lines at the start of the film.
I read that Robert Redford, despite his age, did lots of action himself. But I also read that many sailors were not happy with the technical details.

Anyways, not a bad film. It is about 100 minutes long and pretty good. They are saying that he was nominated for some awards, I am not sure if he got any or not. Recommend:

Yes, if you like the premise. I would give it about 3 out of 5.
