Agree 3-D added nothing, but I was disappointed in the movie in general. Two hours of the same thing, often confusingly rendered, and the sped up frame rate was really annoying throughout the whole movie.

The breeder women's acting was particularly amateurish and some of the minimal dialogue was painful. I know this kind of movie isn't based on Shakesperean dialogue, but still, some of it was almost like porn acting.

It all looked good, though.

You went to a Mad Max movie expecting good acting and compelling dialogue...? o_O

Mad Max: Fury Road - The only review you need to read for the only movie you need to watch <-- click to go to the review

Every once in a while a movie comes along that makes almost every other movie that came out before it look like a stupid, dumpy piece of shit that was a total waste of time. Mad Max: Fury Road is one such movie. If I was a director in Hollywood right now, I'd be committing suicide because the contest is over. You not only lost by not making this movie, you came in dead last with every other idiot director who decided to make any movie that wasn't this. Put a noose around your neck, drown your children in a river and write your suicide note because there's no point in trying anymore. Better yet, skip the note because I'll be too busy watching this movie to read it. Goodbye, loser.
Continued at the link.... oh, and *SPOILERS* obvs...

Movies like Mad Max or Transformers are aimed at a specific market.
They want action, loud noise, stuff blowing up real good! No Meryl Streep tearjerker stuff.
There is a difference between a good movie and a successful movie in my opinion.

Just watched Mad Max 3D last night. First 3D Ive ever been to.

Not terribly impressed. I was fidgeting to leave the last 15 minutes.

But there were lots of cool explosions.

Do they have to be movies currently or just recently in theatres? If not I have a few to contribute.

To Have and Have Not: Bogart and Bacall at their best. They smoulder together on the screen. It Is still probably the template for all actors trying to portray romantic tension. Walter Brennan (who may be the most underrated actor of all time) adds to it as Bogart's drunk first mate Eddie. 8.5/10

Rio Bravo: John Wayne, along with Dean Martin, the previously mentioned Brennan and Ricky Nelson fight off a rich guy and his thugs who are trying to break his brother out of jail for murder. Typical and solid western movie that Wayne was famous for and Martin and Nelson were surprisingly good, too. Great shootout scene at the end as well. Angie Dickinson also stars as Wayne's love interest. 8/10

Swearnet: The Movie: Now for something completely different. It's the Trailer Park Boys out of character, playing caricatures of themselves. Sick and tired or being censored, the boys create a website called Swearnet. Also, "Julian" is trying to compete in a race in honour of his Dad and the two worlds collide and things get FUCKED UP!!! It's not going to make you think a whole lot but if you like the Trailer Park Boys, it's pretty funny. 7/10

True Grit: I was skeptical to watch the remake of True Grit, despite the Oscar nominations, as I am such a fan of the original. but gotta be honest, was BLOWN AWAY!! It not only matches the original but surpasses it. Everyone was great in it but young Hailee Steinfeld stole the show and should have won the Oscar she was nominated for. Highly recommended and would watch again fer sure!!! 9.5/10

Kung Fury Is The Best Movie Ever Exclamation Point

The film features dinosaurs, David Hasselhoff, vikings, Nazis, explosions, and, of course, kung fu.
BY MELISSA LOCKER

What do you get when you combine kung fu, dinosaurs, ninjas, hackers, vikings, Nazis, time travel, cops, super powers, explosions, and David Hasselhoff? The best movie ever, of course.

Thanks to a successful Kickstarter campaign, the throwback thrill ride Kung Fury has finally been released on the web, streaming for free on YouTube. The film was advertised as an over-the-top action comedy starring a “super kung-fu cop” who travels from the 1980s to the 1940s to assassinate Adolf Hitler and end the Nazi regime for good, which is how it managed to raise over $680,000 from over 17,000 eager donors on Kickstarter willing to part with their cold hard cash for the chance to see such a mind-boggling adventure. Those who donated to the campaign will be relieved to know that it delivers that and so much more. (Well, they’ll be relieved, when they stop ninja-kicking the air in excitement.)

The sci-fi-adventure-comedy from the mind of Swedish visual effects artist and music video director David Sandberg, manages to cram every trope of the 1980s cop movie genre into one incredibly action-packed 30-minute short film, complete with everything from mutants to vikings to larger-than-life arcade-game robots. If that doesn’t convince you to spend 30 minutes of your life watching Kung Fury, perhaps seeing the title character and his super-human fighting skills face off against Hitler, who has brushed up on his own kung fu chops and changed his name to Kung Fuhrer, will lure you into the fray.

Finally found time to see Mad Max in 3-D. It is MAD to the MAX!

Bleak, Grim, Dark, Violent, Gory, Loud, Wild, Barely any story, Weird Characters, Senseless action. Ms. Charlize Theron. One arm or one and half ... you are SEXY!

Two hours of GREAT non stop action! Probably the best stunts I have ever seen! Did I mention it has Charlize !!!!

Minions

Awesome sound track.

Needs subtitles.

Could use more yellow.

I saw this over the weekend (I will see the Avengers Monday aftn). Totally blown away with the concept of this film. A very intelligent 'talky' sci fi film with an incredible ending. It will stay will you for weeks!

I saw this movie twice in the theater and i agree, you think about it long after the movie has ended. It really does make you think about us as a species, the future of AI and how far we are willing to go to achieve our goals for AI.
It's an intelligent, well written and wonderfully acted film. If your tired of big action loud explosions easily forgettable in one ear and out the other summer films, then you should really do yourselves a favor and check out this film.
One of the better films of the year and a cool ambient, dark, dreamlike soundtrack as well.

Minions ( 3-D )

Good animation. 3-D did seem to make it a bit more enjoyable.
Seems to be more to the taste of 10/15 yr old kids. Some humor for adults as well. Funny in parts. I wonder how people in UK are taking all the humor about the queen. :)
My Spanish is not very good, so I could've used subtitles. I am sure many other people felt the same way.
Good musical tracks. After about 60 minutes, I was checking time, which is never a good sign. It is kind of unevenly paced.

Overall ... about 5.5 out of 10.

Ok, time to add a few old and new movies.

Black Mass- Great cast, well directed, very graphic and Johnny Depp is brilliant. Biopics are never easy to make, but this one keeps you bound. 8/10.
Drive- Fantastic! Very differently made. Great use of soundtrack. Nice little story, well directed. Ryan Gosling is GOOD. 7/10
Jack Reacher- Tom Cruise can carry a movie all by himself. A bit of suspense, lots of action and dialogues are very snappy. Enjoyed it. 6/10
Mission Impossible, Rogue Nation- Great action, very James Bond ish. Lots of thrills. Lots of spy movie material. Enjoyed it. 7/10
A Most Violent Year- I understand that this movie didnt do too well but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Surprisingly, it is not that violent. Story is based in 1980's. It's gripping and very well acted. Oscar Issac and Jessica Chastein are outstanding. 7/10.
Eastern Promises- I watched it on someone's recommendation and I am glad I did. Intense and thrilling. Viggo Mortensen has this mysterious aura about him and he acted very well. Loved it. 7/10.

Me too liked Spectre. Think of the Paris debacle as a job for 007.
Saw the Assassin, a visual feast, may appeal to Asian admirers...and visual art lovers. Visually stunning, low on plot and action, very subtle, but strong message. Top director Cannes FF Rio Theater, which is a cool retro theater.

Saw Southpaw by accident hit the wrong button on my cable channel lol. But I'm glad I did. I'd give it a 8/ 10
Kind of avoided it as figured I've seen enough Boxing movies, has a few different twists and turns and I enjoyed it overall.
Strong performance by Jake Gyllenhaal.
