The RCMP in Manitoba say they don't know what prompted a 40-year old man to savagely stab a younger man sitting beside him on a Greyhound bus last night.
The bus was enroute to Winnipeg from Edmonton when the attacker stood up, apparently unprovoked, and began knifing the victim in the neck until he decapitated the man.
One witness told CTV Newsnet, that the driver immediately pulled over, and the other passengers ran off the bus, and then blocked the door so the attacker could not escape.
Police arrested the attacker as he tried to escape threw a window on the bus,he has yet to be charged.
Witnesses say the victim was asleep, with his headphones on when the attack began.
The two men got on the bus at different stops.
