The 2 years service sounds good, but its unlikely. If you ever saw the movie "StarShip Troopers" a movie based on Robert A Heinlein book. IN it to get a vote you had to serve in the military or in the government to be able to vote.So do a lot of people.
I think voters should have to serve two years in the military and be deployed overseas. And no Donald Trump notes from mommy bullshit. The Romans had the right idea.
Uhhhh…
I bet there’s a lot more tax dodging going on in West Vancouver than in all the reserves in Canada combined.
Which has more billionaires: the GVRD or all First Nations put together?
With Rome, first only landowners could vote and could only serve in the army. Eventually free men from the cities were allowed to enter the army and only after 20 years service could gain land and the vote. All male citizen got the vote after 212 AD. I believe this was after a few plagues passed through the Roman empire.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roman_citizenship
Yes I agree the rich bastards have too many loopholes. A nice flat tax should fuck them over and help put more money in the politicians pockets.
A main thing for taxes is land taxes for most cities and towns. Income tax is only a recent tax used temporarily during WW1 and WW2. It wasn't until the 1970 that income tax became law.
Food for thought, it also was the idea to run the government in debt that started at this time. Wonder where all that money went to....
