For all things Canadian politics.

I will say this, Trudeau seems very intent on another fall election based on his patterns. I sincerely hope it's time to be rid of him, he's lost the plot and I'd much rather see Freedland in charge at this point, at least she seems to want to do something, Trudeau stopped trying a long while back. Airports in particular should have garnered a lot more attention, but Justin seems more intent on focusing on his new hair style.

I get weary of the Trudeau bashers.

In reality, he is as he has always been, hair and teeth, a talking head for the party handlers and their corporate masters.

In politics today, the leaders are just puppets.

And talk about a horrible batch of so called leaders to choose from ... all sides of the coin.
It's either politicians who are repugnant, weak or misguided in their overall presentations and policies or parties who long ago lost the plot.
The problem as I see it, is that anyone who really is a good manager, humanist, and a leader wants nothing to do with politics. So we are stuck with the B, C and D teams.
Thank god for pooning to keep our minds off this sorry state.

I am not a Trudeau supporter but at least he is better than that senile incompetent Joe Biden. Biden needs to undergo a cognitive test to determine if he is competent. Biden tries to shake hands with invisible people and can no longer think or answer questions without a teleprompter.

Aye. I dislike Trudeau, and dislike the power behind his throne (Freeland), yet I absolutely hate the idea of Pollievre or the CPC getting in power (ever). It's one thing to be a disgrace to politics, but do they have be a reality-denying disgrace to the human species? As long as they act like that, they'll never get my support. As for Jagmeet and the NDP, the choice of "even woker government" is not appealing. What is worse - if they're just play acting that always-pearl-clutching role out of political cynicism, or if they actually mean it?
The province is becoming dysfunctional, the country is increasingly fractured, and the world is just-straight-up plunging into oblivion, and I wouldn't trust any of these folks to safeguard us from any of the threats that really matter. Real leadership is dead, buried under the toxic soil of party politics.
I don't ever say "don't vote", but people need to watch out when they cast that vote, because the ways it can get worse always outnumber the ways it can get better.

Well this handgun banning is terrible politics.
1. It will never deter people from using a handgun in a crime (robbery mostly), because the criminals can get handguns illegally.
2. If a handgun is used in a crime, double the sentence. Legal or illegal. Make the punishment harsh. Make criminals think before they use a handgun.
3. The long gun registry never worked.
4. Restricted firearms (automatic rifles and hand guns) are registered.
5. This act of banning the handguns is only hurting law abiding citizens of Canada, who like to shot targets at ranges.
6. The laws pertaining to safe storage are clear. Gun lock and ammunition locked up in separate places. A trigger lock is required (or wire through chamber), it is recommended to keep the gun in a safe at home.

The thing I know about guns. If you point it at someone, it means you intend to use it (shoot it). Prime safety practice is to point the gun barrel in a safe direction (ie. not at someone); mostly at the ground or down range; regardless if there is ammo in gun. (Any shit for brains asshole who wants to argue, karma will find you).

Part of the reason for banning handguns is the tragedy of losing small kids, who found a loaded handgun in home (US states), not Canada. So this argument is wrong in Canada because of Canadian law requires ammo and gun to be locked up separately. And if locked up in a safe, impossible to get.

Part of the argument is the instances of mass casualties that happen with automatic weapons. Mostly done by young, impressionable idiots. You can't legislate common sense!

The majority of people that are getting handguns in Canada, is because they fear for their own safety. In CANADA??? American propaganda making it to Canada...

I am for restricted guns (AR-15 or handguns), because I look at the states and say "who in there right mind, wants to invade a country that has so many guns".... Besides shooting a automatic rifle on full auto, is awesome....... I would not take that from future generations.

WTF

PS next government who brings back the handguns will be the government in majority.... hint hint conservatives.... not NDP if you want a busted economy..... Yes Trudeau has to go, because he is trying make things out of nothing, (like this hand gun issue), and it makes no sense, or has no practical applications.

I think this is the first time in my life I've been more worried about offending the PERB community than my social media community finding out I'm an SP. Twitter doesn't care. Half the people sorta assume anyways 🤦 "art therapy" on my website says it in a round about way. I've had it a year, it's a mess, it's a work in progress. Please forgive me.
When I say media personality in my profile, it's a polite way of describing a glorified troll. I'd rather be honest and come out of the closet. .
That block is a badge of honor 😂
She was so mad at me during the Ottawa protest. I don't think she realizes I can still read and repost her dumb remarks from my other accounts. She's half cut by lunch anyways. Living that pension in style.
It was an honest comment, steak is expensive.
I know one eyed snakes are tasty.
Maybe she should try eating one and lighten up a bit.

Is it King Charles or King Poilievre?
Definitely King Charles when he gets crowned.
But King Poilievre will most likely be Canada's next prime minister.

He has alot cut out for him to overcome:
1. Debt from Covid (the reality Canada needs to come up with more income to pay for all the services and handouts)(Federal Debt).
2. Putting more money in Canadians pockets (only way is to cut your taxes, its nice but bad for Federal Debt)
3. Retirement (yup that buys all the baby boomers votes looking for extra cash) and (again puts more stress on Federal Debt).
4. Cyptocurrency- Any investment based pyramid schemes (only the people first in make the most money) and with no actual assets is a bad investment. The reality is that it takes more and more people coming into a cyptocurrency to make it valid. Very Speculative.
5. Freedom convoy- A bunch of uneducated/unemployed truckers and red necks fed up with following the rules of mask wearing (IMHO a bunch of winers). Creating a tent city in Ottawa. Not to smart to align with these folks especially when the context of overthrowing the government is being played with; and you are running for PM.
6. Global economy- well Canada really can't compete in it due to high wages and life style Canadians have. Every time someone takes a holiday outside of Canada it weakens our economy.
7. Paying off First Nations claims -- Again raise taxes to pay for it.
8. Immigrant education granting, won't work if they can't speak very good english, eg doctors, engineers etc.

So what will the liberal do? Question him on:
1. Why he is so rich, (est wealth 9 million), when he has only worked in politics....
2. His adoption, post say he met his grandfather, but what about his mother and father? What if one of them is a convicted criminal?
3. Alot of his run for Conservative Leader has been orchestrated, with very little talking to press.
4. Being raised by 2 school teachers--- dosen't sound like he was disadvantaged at all. Is that trying to look like a blue collar worker, hey no, teacher kids are geeks......
5. Whats this about Children slush funds for childcare?
6. When will his redneck brownshirts start beating people up and smashing shops (1930 Germany again). Wait... that probally won't happen.... but hey the thoughts there....

Meanwhile ex Conservative leaders are calling for unity etc etc etc. in order to beat Trudeau in the next election. With KP running the NDP and Liberals will lose. But the thing is they all will be running on the same platform, so it comes down to charmisa and good looks....

So we have Pierre Pestulance as the new Conservative Leader, in my opinion a smarter version of the Cheeto, but a version nonetheless. Sure puts this old boy out to sea when it comes to a party of choice. I am without question a Red Tory, pretty much a tad right of center and no one in the current lineup we have comes close to that definition which is pretty broad so this is just really sad.

An article that I think sums up what the new leader is all about is here (its lengthy, ie more than a 1 minute read ...)

It is.
The reference to the Cheeto, is that PeePee is a Canadian Political Version of the same.
Surely taking a contemporary and current CANADIAN political issue and comparing it to a FAILED PAST US political issue is understood as still being part of a Canadian Political Thread.
But maybe not in some folk's ... consideraton ...

Some of us don't just bash everyone, or use silly names I guess.
I despise what Trudeau has done, yet still call him Trudeau, and don't sling personal attacks at him, just do not like what he has done to Canada.

People should give Pierre a chance, before just condemning him.
I give everyone a chance, but I also weigh the evidence carefully and don't forget their past words & actions at election time, like most people do.

Been watching PP work for years. Pierre Pestilence, Pollywannacracker, whatever he is called, the dude's called that because he's an obnoxious asshole, and quite proud of it. If his goal was to have 2/3 of people hating his guts - well, mission accomplished ! Spends his time trying to repackage all the bullshit rhetoric that comes from the toxic tire-fire of US politics. He and his supporters spent the last few years cozying up to conspiracy theorists and encouraging their violent public tantrums, so what do we make of that? Either he is actually one of them (a deranged idiot), or he is just using them as partisan cannon fodder (a cynical con artist). Plus he's big on pushing some very sketchy economic schemes. My bet is that what is openly wrong with him, what people know about already, is really just the tip of the iceberg.

People such as him, and politics like his, are the reason that Trudeau won the last two elections (barely). Canadians know that mediocre still beats disaster. Even if Trudeau gets tiresome and his government seem like they're always muddling along, at least they do not get the big things wrong on purpose. They same can't be said for his opponents.

Every election the Conservative party has the chance to not act the way that angered Canadians and lost them elections. Instead, every time they fall back on the idea they just needed to act that way even more.
At least O'Toole understood you have to throw cold water on the nutjobs, not loudly proclaim solidarity with them, but that sense of discipline just wasn't in step with his own party. They got rid of O'Toole for someone even less credible, and much less likeable.

Maybe voters would be interested an alternative, a party of business-minded but responsible people who could create a stable and prosperous society, with innovation and realistic long term goals - but Conservatives just made it clear they would (still) rather be the guys who burn all that down.

Seems that most Canadians disagree with you.
