I saw the new star trek movie,

wasn't all that impressed, disappointed actually. but then I have read all the books seen all the movies.
I think they could have done better,

I wish the character spock would have been played by comberbach that guy who played kahn and the british holms. he is a great actor.
I read the book about Lenard nemoy by shatner interesting how he played spock,

he said in the first episode spock laughed or smiled after that he never did again. it was wrong to have spock smile and laugh and he talked about how hard it was to play a character that had no emotions. really an interesting take on the character spock and the actor, any way this guy new guy laughed and smiled and cried out in pain, something Vulcans never do either cry out in pain.
it was a bad star trek, for a traditionalist like me.

EYE IN THE SKY: Finally I got a chance to see it. Everything that has been said about this movie is true. It is tense, compelling, suspenseful and thrilling. Helen Miren is GOOD. Although I feel the director deserves lot of credit for keeping the viewers on the edge. Loved it. I am usually not into war movies, but this is something different. 7.5/10. Recommended.

The conscience of the drone operators was ridiculous.

The concern for one anonymous bread seller, over the need to eliminate suicide bombers, made earlier build-up even beyond ridiculous.

I thought the film was well done, but cheesy at the same time. Collateral damage is part of war and one little girl selling bread isn't enough to call off a major airstrike, let's be serious. Also, since when are drone operators all sappy and teary eyed... That being said, the movie is well shot and the acting is quite good.

I have to agree with both of you. When I saw that seen, I was like, "oh come on now!". But I sort of let it slide thinking that the movie maker is trying to show the same thing from all sorts of different angles. We know that this won't happen in real world. What was the last time Americans cared about collateral damage to civilian lives outside of USA. Having said that, most of the movies have elements that we all know don't exist in real life. But overall I found the movie well made, well shot and fairly well acted.

IN NAME OF THE FATHER : I always wanted to catch this movie for about 20 years and finally got the chance. It is based on a true story and for most part it is very impressive. Daniel Day Lewis is brilliant as a petty criminal framed as a bomber and Pete Postlethwaite as his father is very impressive. Emma Thompson is pretty good with whatever she is given. The strongest point of this movie is the acting and the direction. Obviously to sell the movie some of the scenes are over dramatized but overall DDL is worth the price. 3.5 / 5 for me. Recommended: yes.

I saw a few movies:

Pete's Dragon: Good visuals, good for kids and a nice story with lots of heart

Train to Busan: Korean zombie movie, very well done, lots of tension and action

Hell or High Water: Like a modern western, two estranged brothers rob banks to save the family home. Good cast and acting, from the writer of Sicario

Florence Foster Jenkins: Light fare comedy about a woman who can't sing well but wants to anyway, good for a laugh, a nice dramedy

Kubo and the Two Strings: It wasn't perfect, but a very nicely animated movie from the people who made Coraline, Paranorman, and the Boxtrolls

Yeah, I thought it was REALLY good. Great performances all around.

I want to see Kubo as well. I never did see Coraline but I loved Paranorman. I did enjoy Boxtrolls but not as much as Paranorman. Still, I'm very interested in Kubo, especially in 3D!

BLOOD FATHER Saw Mel Gibson in action after a long time. An old fashioned chase movie with loads of violence and continuous action. What makes this movie stand out from this genre is the sharp script. The dialogues are smart and edgy and Mel Gibson does not disappoint. He has this madness in his eyes that make him very credible in this role. Nice supporting cast too. I totally enjoyed it. Recommended: Yes. 3.5 out of 5.

Don't Breathe - Good thriller, fast-paced. Three goofballs break into a blind guy's old house. He's an army vet with a bad attitude and a vicious Rotty.

IMPERIUM: On paper it is a good story line but that's about it. An FBI agent (Daniel Radcliffe) infiltrates white supremacists and klan etc. Radcliffe tries but I for one was not convinced. This my time seeing his movie (no, Harry Potter is not my kind of movie) and I was not convinced that he is fit for this role. Even rest of the cast except one or two actors are just so so. The script and direction is a bit weak too. I think with better actors, writing and probably more budget, a better director would have come up with a better product. Not recommended. 2 out of 5.

It's a great movie and Jane Levy gives a great performance. You would never guess she is only 5 feet 2 per her screen persona

There are plenty of well documented cases of drone operators with PTSD.

The drone operators can suffer from the same removes or uncertainty that the men in the missile defense system suffer when it comessage to actually laughing a nuclear weapon. And bring globe animation. Some would not turn the key.

You can tell it was a relatively low budget movie. Otherwise, I would agree with you. Also, directing could have been a bit sharper and perhaps it might even have been a 4.
