3 NFL coaches sacked....Trestman,Ryan&Smith, no real surprises there.

Playoffs start this wkend.tho' Carolina has losing record, they finished 4-0&have home field vs Zona team running out of qb's.

if his suspension is upheld Makka-dumb-dumb king-kong Suh is out for the Dallas game.what an idiot, million dollar body, 10 cent brain.
Carolina definitely has the momentum coming in to the playoffs, 'Cards are slipping no matter what good press Arians is getting at the moment. As much as I'd like an easy (knock on wood) victim for the Seahawks to destroy, I'd love to see a match with the Panthers and Newton playing at the CLink.

Suh appealed his suspension and was overturned by the NFL?!?! What's up with that?

I was shocked. Suh will be a thorn in Romo's side, and as Fragile as he can be (though huge heart and toughness)could prove a huge factor.

Had the Packers not lost to Buffalo a couple of weeks ago, they would have had home-field advantage instead of Seattle. That one loss made the playoffs so much tougher for the Packers, even though they are almost unbeatable in Lambeau Field. Unless the Lions beat Dallas, the Seahawks will have their first playoff game against a Panthers team they beat 13-9 on the road this year or an Arizona team they swept. The Seahawks have a much easier path to the NFC Championship Game than the Packers. The Lions could give Green Bay a break if they beat the Cowboys because the Packers would get the Panthers or Cardinals while the Lions would face the Seahawks. Considering the Lions' struggles against winning teams, it would be hard to think the Lions would do a lot of scoring against Seattle. Here's the difficulty for the Packers: The Cowboys should be able to run on them, and the Seahawks might be able to do the same in an NFC Championship Game.

I wonder if Suggs works on catching balls between his legs in practice.

Other than that there were no surprises in the NFL Saturday.

In hockey the Habs won at Pittsburg for Eastern supremacy.

Wild Card Round over with.

The Cowboys game sure to provoke response re the reversal of pass-interference call.

Ed Willes wrote why not just jump to Conference Finals i.e. Pats-Broncos& Seahawks-Packers,he's likely corect.

I'm looking forward to watching all 4 of these games.

Seahawks are heavy - 11 point - favorites. The other home teams/favs in the range of 5.5 to 7 points.

The health of Rodgers is far from 100%, so the Packers are only 5.5 point favs. Dallas has been a perfect 8-0 on the road this season.

I won't expect any blowouts, but Manning and Luck should combine for some serious air attacks.
and all the QB match-ups are intriguing. looking forward to Luck vs Manning.

enjoy the games, Lennny.

nice tribute to Luongo the other night

I have to wonder how badly Aaron Rodgers aggravated the calf injury by returning to play 2nd half vs.Detroit?
Seems like he'll start Sunday but how restricted will his mobility be?
His backup, Matt Flynn, has had good games, but Pack fans could be forgiven for feeling nervous.

agree with manni,Luck&Manning should put up some points.
Indy has best chance of a road win, imo.

The BCS bowl Mon nite, Oregon vs.Ohio State.....I s/b pulling for Oregon,Pac N.W. etc. but those uniforms!they deserve to be in the same category as those hideous

just saw it on-line. the snot green is kept to a minimum and the 'chrome' NHL crest doesn't
stand out against either white or black background. the contrast is on the low side.
overall, it looks like something you'd see at an arena football game or at a motorcross event.

Reebok tries too hard when it comes to designing athletic products, be it footwear or apparel.
just look at the blandness of the Crosby branded clothing. it's downright fugly!
should have stuck with Nike or better yet, why not give adidas a shot?

For the first NFL playoff game this weekend (130 PM PST today) i'm going to go with the Patriots:

"We're going to hear a lot about Baltimore's post-season successes against the Patriots over these past few seasons. It makes for a nice story and an easy sell for those looking to back the Ravens. Unfortunately, those games have no bearing on the impending result for this one. While we admire Baltimore and its gritty accomplishments when cast in this playoff underdog role, this is New England we're talking about here. The Ravens play in what we are realizing is a very mediocre division despite three of its teams going to the post-season. Cincinnati was easily dismissed and Pittsburgh was removed by this Baltimore squad. The win over the Steelers surprised some, but considering the familiarity and history of the two and Pittsburgh missing a key guy, the Ravens' win has to be considered a mild upset at best. Now Baltimore will step up in class and figures to have its hands full. New England was 7-1 here this season, its only loss occurring in the final game when it rested most of its starters against Buffalo. Not counting that irrelevant home loss, the Pats outscored their opposition by a dominant 255-117 at Gillette on the year. The Patriots pulverized the Bengals 43-17 on this field, Cincinnati being the team that won Baltimore's AFC North division. Tom Brady and Co. also clobbered the No. 2-seeded Broncos 43-21 here in a one-sided affair. Are we to expect that much more from this visitor? Not with Baltimore's road record. While 4-4 away in the regular season, the road wins were at Cleveland, TB, Miami and New Orleans -- none being playoff teams. Three of four losses were at playoff-bound opponents' parks. Overall, Baltimore was 1-6 against teams with a winning record. We also have our doubts about Baltimore's 28th-ranked secondary. This New England team is noticeably stronger than in years past with vast improvements in all three phases of the game. There is a solid defence, a healthy Rob Gronkowski and a feisty Brady leading the way. The Patriots also have Darrelle Revis and Brandon Browner this time around to patrol their secondary and, with those guys covering Steve Smith, we're not sure that Joe Flacco will have as many outlets as he's grown accustomed to. The Pats are the top seed in the AFC for a reason and they'll remind us why on this day.
TAKING: PATRIOTS -7"

Though if i were a betting man i'd go with Pinnacle sports alternate line of New England -3.5 -165, laying $165 to win $100.

That way i don't need them to win by 2 scores to win the bet.

Patriots win.their 14 yards total rushing must be a record-low for a team winning a playoff game.

As a Rangers fan for 49 years, I don't recall ever saying this before: "We are unstoppable!" Wow, 13 wins in 14 games, after sweeping California road trip (Ducks, LA, SJ). Rick Nash, 26 goals. I must be just dreaming again...

Seattle D just took it up a few notch tonight!
they're good, but this is just freakin' crazy good!

Cam Chancellor's pick 6 was impressive but his
leaping attempt to block a field goal (twice) was
one for the ages.

on another note, somewhat sports related.
anyone know who the hockey player that was featured on the
Molson Canadian tv spot? he takes his dad on a helicopter ride
atop a mountain where a frozen rink awaits them.

be very cool to do that if I had the funds, though I would replace the beers.
Molson Canadian beer is just plain crap.

vitaly lanochkin - defenseman

2003 - 2005: Baie-Comeau Drakkar; Quebec Major Junior Hockey League
2005 - 2006: Oakville Blades; Ontario Junior Hockey League
2006 - 2009: York University; CIS - Ontario University Athletic Association

i read about a blind taste test held a few years ago in toronto, where they had big brewery beers, imports, micro's, etc. - molson canadian won hands down

don't get me wrong, i doubt the results would be the same in bc, but it led to me really tasting my beers since then. and while i wouldn't put molson canadian at the very top of my list, i won't turn it down either

thanks for the info, vancity_cowboy. much appreciated.
I'm not familiar with the name, was he drafted by an NHL team?

somehow I'm not surprised with that taste test result.
I bet a lot of the participants were the kids who grew up on that crappy stuff.
Kokanee, Molson and that horrible tasting 'Black' by Carling.

sure, it's unCanadian to turn any beer down. but if I was offered that crap,
I would simply say…SORRY, not for me.

while not all craft beer is good, it's the variety and experimentation that keeps
my taste buds satisfied (and always in moderation).
