Dry extreme cold can cause asthma. It's well documented amongst kids who spend many hours and many days at the rink. Same for cross country skiers.I chuckled about 2017 report on Norwegian skiing team. 50-70% of them are diagnosed with asthma and are taking asthma medications. One hell of coincidence they are the country's best athletes.
My knees hurt just watching it.Doing a 720 and nailing a landing is beyond believable.
Maybe you should get off your knees and sit on a couch to watch it.My knees hurt just watching it.
I watched "Icarus" last night, it's a documentary that shows how the Russians orchestrated the state sponsored doping for Sochi, and how the corruption is wide spread beyond all borders and politics.Used to love the Olympics, until I found out about the International Olympic Committee. Between these leeches, grifters, and layabouts, the obsession with pulling in advertising dollars and the many drug scandals, I’ve just given up.
Am I missing anything by not tuning in to speed skating, or two-man luge? Or any other sport that is virtually invisible between Olympics, and whose athletes I have no no idea who they are?
The ideals of the Olympics long ago disappeared in pursuit of money, money money. They exist solely as an advertising vehicle now.
I couldn’t agree more. It’s laughable calling most of the Olympic athletes amateurs. When my mom was young she was an Olympic level diver. She couldn’t even take a $500 payment from a sundance trampolines advertisement she did and still compete in the olympics. She was 13 years old! There is no amateur sport left. You need so much sponsorship just to have a chance at competing. It sadly just comes down to who has deeper pockets and better scientists to whip up undetectable drugs. Oh and politics. I still like to watch though. I love the skiing and biathlon. Heck, I’ll even watch curling if canada is vying for a medal.I would bet, to a degree, all athletes at that level, have a doping regimen. Every one of them. Too much incentive not to.
The Olympics aren't about sport any longer, they are about bragging rights. And don't even get me started on "amateur" status. lol
