I don't think any of us are under any illusions about what our jobs are. The reality is even with regulars.... most of our apts are still probably a string of 1 hours, sometimes 2 and few multi-hours with dinner and if we are lucky, from time to time, travel plans. It leaves little doubt as to WHY men come and see us. I don't think many, if any, of us harbour delusions of being more than what we are.

BUT don't for a moment underestimate our roles in people's lives. We can be everything from a companion to a therapist (don't scoff... some of us have the training and the education) and many other things. The term courtesan comes to mind, while many would think "God how pretentious".... it is often true. Many of us are educated, well traveled and do this because we enjoy it (for the most part) and many men do seek an very engaging, emotionally and intellectually stimulating encounter. We very often fill the void left when relationships and marriages start to loose their spark and men want to re-establish that intimate connection.

Of course we appreciate kindness and thoughtfulness and a post-coital cuddle & conversation. I think what T was saying is just that MANY (not all) men want MORE than just a bang.

Maybe those of us with a softer, more approachable image attract a different type of client. Maybe it has to do with the price range we put ourselves into. Most of our clients make enough that 300/h isn't sooooo hard to acquire that that have to get in as much action time as is possible to make it worth their while.

An SP as a therapist? A guy who sees an SP as a therapist is not serious about therapy, no matter how well trained she is (but confoundedly being paid to provide sexual services nonetheless). Perhaps she is well educated and worldly that she would make a great courtesan, provided she puts out. Or perhaps being worldly is not what he wants, maybe he just wants to get his hands all over a naive young girl who has an entitlement problem and willing to put out for some cash cuz earning it through a good education is too much work.

Well, I thought that I would put my 2 cents in.

Firstly, when it comes down to it, according to the ladies websites, "Money exchanged is for time only." Or something like that, probably some legal requirement. This is true. If you show up and haven't showered in like 4 weeks then of course the lady will not see you, or she will, but she sure isn't having sex with you. It all comes down to how much respect do you have going into it.

I personally would not go and see a SP for an hour or longer just for conversation at this point in my life. Not because I don't want to, not because I think it's stupid, but because being a part time student my finances are not that great, and I would rather be doing something else while in the presence of my attractive lady friend. Maybe when I can afford it, I will try something else. I've looked into the dinner date thing, but I cannot afford a 2 HR dinner date that costs me $600. It's just to rich for my blood.

When your going to a SP, what do you think? Are you going there just for a release, or are you going for an "experience"? Why do people pay 2X at Starbucks, when Timmy Ho's is just around the corner, half price, and tastes the same (in the morning, any coffee is good!)? If your going strictly for a release, then going to a Indy or an agency is probably not for you. You can get that at a AMP or a MP for 1/2 price. But you do not get the conversation, the atmosphere, the ambiance. That is what you pay for. If it is not worth it to you then don't go.

Obviously, that won't stop some from doing just that, and those people usually find that outlet with the most subserviant, desperate, marginalised individuals--low-track SW's. The fact is this industry involves extremes ranging from BJs for a green on the low-track to $$$$+ SP's who spend more time talking with clients than fucking. There will always be disagreements in what is appropriate behaviour, or the expectations of clients and SP's (or Johns and Ho's).
Most indy SP's price themselves accordingly to get the clients they want, some require references.
The new direction Perb is trying to go in will hopefully reinstate the RESPECT for others that is sometimes lacking. If you don't like it, there are other boards to post on.
