The thread is only seven years old, but still somewhat relevant for those interested in exercise - but... I purchased a rowing machine several years ago, and it gets used about nine days out of ten. The idea with the rowing machine is that it provides exercise to ALL muscles. The exception might be facial muscles, but I counter that "with grimaces must count as exercise". One of the significant advantages is low impact. For some reason rowing machines are not popular, but I have no regrets about my purchase.

I has a gym member ship. It was a fitness world on douglas in victoria.
Why did I pick that one. Because they had a track on the second floor..
I would rather walk or run the out door track. Then use there tread mill or elliptical. .
Walking up hill do more for you then a tread mill .it works more of your muscles.

Don't listen to the naysayers here ... a treadmill can be a great addition to your workout equipment. If you use the incline on it - great for your buns and thighs. I've had mine for about 10 years and I use it at least 2 times a week for an hour at a time (Used to be way more before I joined the 2 gyms I go to). Definitely the elliptical gives a better workout but it's awesome to switch things up. I bought a Schwinn and highly recommend this brand. I'm really fussy with mine though and take good care of it. Anytime kids come over to visit they always jump straight onto it and try and walk on it without turning it on by moving the belt, I don't let kids play on it. I bought mine at Fitness Depot and found the staff there very helpful. I do think you will need to spend over $1000 though to buy a quality one. Good luck

Hello, Gostain,....welcome to perb.

I'm just a little curious of why you dug up a 7 year old thread, joined Perb at 4:23 this morning and posted the above also at 4:23,...taking great care to list the commercial name of a treadmill, including some technical stuff ????

Let me guess --------- you prosper financially from the sale of the mentioned product......

Very astute, but I thought one has to pay for advertising on here.....

Dress for the weather and step outside. I find walking/jogging outside much more invigorating than running a treadmill.

Take a walk, jog, feel the air, meet people, enjoy the smell of grass and tree, pause at a light, look around, nod at other joggers.

Compare that to enclosed space, constant boring drone of a treadmill with your eyes and ears on 6 o' clock news filled with depressing news of bombings, rapes, killings, corruptions and taxes.

I spent $2500 on a tread mill and it is laying folded for three years and I just go for a walk after supper/dinner.

If weather is too ugly for you, just climb up and down the stairs!! I do that five times on two flights of stairs with total 25 steps. A wonderful exercise, trust me!

Treadmill works for me. I can run on a treadmill but running on pavement is too hard on my knees.

I have a Precor elliptical from a commercial gym. It is a very hard workout but I enjoy using it.
