*“spelled” StupidI think for 1 we should train our new overlords, they might hate us a bit less, all said tongue in cheek, on a side note, anyone else think tongue is spelt stupid?
Up until WW2 the US employed a largely isolationist policy. After the war the policy changed and they started interfering in other countries affairs most notably the overthrow of prime minister Mosaddegh in Iran in 1953 and installing the Shah in power. Many other instances followed including the overthrow of Salvadore Ellende president of Chile in 1973 . Acts such as these have increased the Anti-American feelings in parts of the world. The anti-American movement extends well beyond the Canadian border; It is a global phenomenon. Before people jump on the Trump train, this has been going on long before Trump even considered office. I'm going to blame it on the conservative views and patriotic "America First" that the U.S. has embraced for far too long. At least that is my thought.

A good book on American diplomatic failure in SE Asia is The Ugly American by Eugene Burdick.
A repeating pattern with the forces: buy cutting edge high level kit but spend nothing on maintenance. What about the submarines the liberals bought from the UK? Saw one in dry dock in Halifax several years ago, probably still there.
Yes it was. It’s quite common for our NATO countries to train in our winters up north which is similar to Afghanistan’s mountainous terrain. I’ve come across Royal Marines, RAF and German’s at a couple of CF bases.
I suppose this Chinese deal was set up a long time ago before they started flexing in the Pacific.
