Actually I think most people penciled in all 3 Californian teams to be top 3. With most people expecting the Canucks to take 4th, with a chance at higher, if Anaheim under performed.
i think u can safely pencil out the 4th spot...
i want to be a canucks fan , but this team is worst in many many years.
Gillis has got to GO

Last night's playful banter between Roy and Luongo was incredibly amusing.
Last night is was dominant mid 2000s goaltender coached by dominant 90s goaltender vs dominant mid 2000s goaltender. If only Brodeur could have been worked in somehow.

We were (not really) close as we had mediocre goalie of the 80's John Garett doing colour that game. . . and jinxing Luongo.

What do you all think about the Shawn Thornton incident?
Thornton is a gutless puke. My opinion hasn't really changed since he jumped in to fight Weise when Weise had challenged McQuaid the in Jan 2012 game in Boston. Neal's also a shit head, I hate Marchand but that shit was real dirty.

anyone else notice the First Nation hat the guys wear during post-game interview? (how can you not)?
so far I've only seen Higgy and Lack wear it.

totally out of character within the hockey culture but interesting reference to the province of BC.

what do you guys think?

I think it is reallllly coooool , the whole team took a pre season trip around the north and up the coast visiting many FN villages with huge turn outs ,
BC FN are big canuck hockey fans.....and drink alot of Blues eh , ok ?

Still lost in the '60s
It's their new Player of the Game award. The Canucks got the hat when they visited Haida Gwaii in September. It gives the team a connection to the Haida First Nation, whose art and culture bear so much importance to the Pacific Northwest.

Want to have your mind blown? Best shooting %'s on the Canucks (min. 6 goals): Kassian 18.8, Richardson 17.1, Hansen 14.6.

Also, I hope Edler takes his sweet time returning from an injury. I hope they the brass tells them that, too.

Anyone see the 24/7 series? The first episode was pretty shitty.
that is very interesting... i swear kassian purposely shot at the defensman's skates to get the deflection in tonight's game against chicago. i guess he figured at that distance he had NO chance in hell of beating the chicago goalie, but with luck a deflection might hit the goal and if it did it might make it in - and it did! :thumb:

that was an entertaining game!
Torts is right about the team sucking in shootouts…
almost had to go through the whole roster before Kes put it away.

so, who deserves Player of the Game?

I really liked how Eddie Lack played. He made some crucial saves!

What was Torts thinking , for not calling a time out and settle things down when Pits made it 4-3?
And how the fuck can Crosby be all alone on the empty side of net with NO ONE on him?
thats bad bad bad Coaching !!!!! WTF ?

ya, I was noticing what you just said…
didn't same event happen vs Ducks.

I thought Torts would be more aware of the situation since
it has happened how many times???

Higgins played that puck rather softly when that play developed.

I guess this is what Tort was saying in a recent media interview…
that you need to be better mentally in dire situations and the team
clearly does not possess that trait. will hurt them if they make the playoffs.
as much as I like the team, I think it will be another 1st Round exit.

The timeout wouldn't have done much. Crosby was wide open because Hamuis screwed up. He left his man (Crosby) to go to his partner's side. When on his partner's side (I think he was out with Tanev), he slipped and fell down. Pass went over to Crosby and Sid buried it.
sometimes, a little breather or water break is all that's needed to get some legs and energy back and
possibly could have made the difference. also calm the nerves down just a bit. I still think a TO may have made
a difference, unless of course they didn't have any left. on to next game.
