I would put the kid in a dry suit with a helmet to that the divers can talk to the kid. The biggest threat is the kid going spastic if he gets scared (panic). "we have a bend here, maintain contact with the rope, we are going up 10 feet."

And because they are cave diving the divers must pay attention to the depth of water they go through and normalize for pressure differences due to depth of water. This means taking breaks and waiting at certain depths from 10 to 30 minutes or longer in order to normalize the pressure in their bodies as they rise out of the depths of the cave. Cave diving and high altitude fresh water diving are specialties for divers and is not like diving 100 ft down in the sea.

Can't quite tell when you wrote that since PERB's date stamps have been messed up for a few weeks, but as of late Tuesday morning Pacific time all the support personnel were also safely out.

On Elon Musk's kid submarine...

I can't figure out why this thing would be superior to just dragging the kid in a face mask?

They say the path has lots of turns and is very narrow. The kid is going to be more bendable without being inside a torpedo, isn't he?
Looks like one of the rescue divers thought much the same thing:

Though not only is his opinion of greater authority than mine, he also puts it much more entertainingly. :)
