My statement was just my opinion on a design flaw. Even though I started a bit of debate on whether T8E’s “made in China” remark was relevant, this is a thread on a Tesla 3 review. We don’t need to debate the merits of the manufacturing prowess of different countries.

I apologize if I led this thread astray.

As a massive car enthusiast, I’m always torn with these threads.

Quiet, packed with all the info you’ll ever need plus constant updates. Safe beyond belief, practical, fast, reliable, long lasting. The list goes on.

There are other EVs out there but from the back end, the complexity of the software and AI is why Tesla is so far ahead. This is something most of the consumer market, even Tesla fans, don’t really understand.

As far as functional piece of equipment, Tesla makes the world’s most superior car, EV or gas, by a wide margin. Game - Set - Match

For anyone willing to learn how all this stuff works, there would be zero debate on this. Tesla would be the only car that most people would purchase.

The only logical reason not to would be either price, or charging issues. Any argument against this falls flat on its face.

Have any of you been in a bad relationship? You know, the ones where you’re suspicious if you’re being cheated on? Or maybe you’ve constantly fighting over things that you can’t even remember why you’re fighting? A short fuse, irrational behaviour, stress, unreasonable demands, another pair of scissors to a Tom Ford jacket? Check.

But they’re so fucking hot. They define feeling alive. The moment they’re gone, the mind obsesses and can’t wait to fuck them again. It’s like a bad habit. They’re so passionate and fascinating.

Welcome to everything Tesla is not. It’s boring and ugly as sin - like someone knocked its teeth out with swollen gums. Thank God it has semi-autonomous driving because it’s equally as boring.

When I get in my car and hit the switch, everyone that’s in my house is fully aware something angry just woke up. While it has all the modern creature comforts, the reason I often drive this over my Model S, is that I enjoy it.

AMG doesn’t make great cars, plenty of cars are faster and better, but they make fun cars. They make cars that have a personality and make me feel like I’m a kid in a spaceship.

It’s the same reason I have a custom ‘70 SS that handles terribly and is highly uncomfortable. It’s fun. It’s beautiful. It’s something beyond what it’s purpose is, a machine to transport people.

Tesla and the automobile.... not really the same thing. If anyone ever has to ask, buy the Tesla.

I suspect you just don’t get the attention you crave when you drive the Tesla.

Anonymity is ideal, for me. One of the best parts about the Tesla is the lack of attention.

I have a passion for the things I purchase and have a deep genuine interest. Every car I’ve owned has a cool story behind it and has a lot of meaning for me. Unfortunately a lot of people buy stuff for the status vs personal enjoyment. The attention becomes an annoying by-product.

I'm kind of torn also. Major car enthusiast and Tech enthusiast.

When I need to commute: Tesla and all the tech. Autopilot is brilliant.

When I want to drive: gt4, 993TT or the motorbike, or the R107 SL leisurely sunny drive. If I had to buy modern, it would be gt350R or the Touring 991 GT3 or the LC500, I just refuse to pay the mark up the sob dealers want.

The one that got away was the LFA. I wish I got that. Fuck.

But commuting, doing the typical city bullshit grind, EVs with the tech is the future. The HOV lane sticker helps too.

But you're right. That spark and fizz you get in the pit of your stomach is something missing in the Tesla. Even though I still giggle at the shit the car has and how it's like a big ass cell phone on wheels.

When I took out my buddy's 997 gt3 to spread it legs, it was brilliant, what the fun is in driving.
For many people, this sort of conversation is completely lost.

It’s the same as owning a motorcycle. Unless a person has been on the seat, they won’t understand the experience is unlike anything else.

It’s not for everyone. It’s funny you mention the LFA, one of the best cars ever made. The experience of the car is special before it even moves. The view from inside the cockpit and the sound of the V10 sends shivers down my spine, even at idle. The thing screams like a formula one car at high revs.

If you’ve driven the GT3 or RS, the way you can feel the road is amazing. At the same time, you can also feel all the potholes and road construction too! I miss the older 911s where there was an extra pedal and you needed both hands to drive it.

Tesla and EVs will replace the “car” the same way cars replaced horses. With that said, there are people who are obsessed with horses and horse racing. It’s now a hobby vs a mode of transport. I suspect one day the special cars of today will become the horses of tomorrow.

WOW, I'm pretty happy with my new accord touring 2.0 all fully loaded and I paid under 50k with freight, PDI and taxes (the fright and PDI is a load of crap).

The tesla's are nice, but now it seems as if everybody and there aunt and uncle jumped on that bandwagon - kinda like the honda civic of the 90's

Sound is a huge component to enjoyment as the driver for sure. Yes the v10 in the LFA is essentially my favorite sounding engine. I still remember hearing one rev up by the hospital and I'm thinking hol-lee-shit. But I can understand how loud vehicles piss off the majority, especially motorbikes in the summer.

The 997 GT3 almost had me in tears, made me feel I was a kid again. Only because I'm inside hearing that Metzger engine engine do its thing. Only as good as I can make it go. When I was living in a shell of an existence years back, it was one of the few things that made me feel alive then. Bought a gt4 a month later. Bastards were doing that market adjustment garbage for the gt3s. The 993tt still holds a place in my heart as favorite vehicles I've owned.

I've accepted that the days of big American V8s, and NA cars are numbered. 2 door coupes getting more rare too. As are sedans. Everyone into The crossover. And the manufacturing all on one platform is the norm and everything will be the same but different, but the same. More of the same Cookie cutter cars. Shit, mustang is an electric Brand now.

But then that's what makes experiencing something like a Giulia Quadrifoglio even more special. Or rolling around in a debadged sleeper e63s AMG wagon. It's just fun for people like us.

It's like with smart watches. Everyone got a tracker or Apple watch. But then if you ever see a signature outsized date window on a dial and realize it's an A Lange & Sohne in the wild, you appreciate it even more so, if you're a watch dork like me.
Your watch comment hit home. Before my uncle passed away, I purchased a Zeitwerk and surprised him with it during his what would be his last Christmas in the hospital.

As a huge watch lover but of modest means, it was so wonderful to see his appreciation for it.

Not to derail the thread but the watch comment is exactly the difference in personality or appreciation for the finer things in life.

The iWatch is the perfect way to tell time as a functional piece. It also tells me the weather, the humidity, and every time zone. It’s essentially perfect and it’s all but one of millions of functions. The Astronomia is impractical, expensive, and can’t hold a candle to the iPhone or iWatch. Yet for a select few, it represents beauty, tradition, and something special.

Tesla and a lot of modern wonders are much the same. Such an interesting time to be alive!

Have you noticed any other issues with the Model 3? Any regrets with the purchase? Also how is the paint quality?

I’ve been considering purchasing one but there are a few things making me second guess the purchase

I’m leaning towards getting a model 3 but my major hang up is my building doesn’t have secure parking or ev charging. My spot is extra wide and near the main structure so there is power nearby to install the charger, but I’m worried thieves will steal the cables. Best case scenario would be to get the commercial property management company or strata to install charge stations or I might just use an extension cord with the wall plug and pick up the slack with super chargers or other free stations.
