"Long ago, a British commenter made the observation that NATO's purpose was to "keep the Americans in, the Russians out, and the Germans down", and it would seem that the Cold War being over did not change that one bit."
And how's that all working out?
So far, looks like the plan is going according to plan. Every bridge Russia tried to build is burnt the fuck down. Their economy & military is (not matter what they say) seriously depleted. Sanctions are isolating them financially. They have to lean on predatory China, loony North Korea, and "we've got problems of our own" Iran just to keep their arsenal going. Meanwhile the arms industry in the west is booming, especially in the US, and even stand-offish countries neutral countries like Sweden and Finland have been convinced to put their militaries under American command. Nobody in the west even dares to question the Americans' intentions or actions anymore; dissent over foreign policy is dead.
So unless one actually values the lives of Ukrainians, I suppose everything is turning up roses for Washington.
