Stanley Cup playoffs...predictions?

Excuse me, isn't hockey extinct after covid?
The past 15 year and enforcement of non-fighting has done the game in. Although the league doesn't like violence, each team has enforcers to protect the talent, started with cement trucks like Semenko for the great one. One thing about the playoffs its about the team that can grind the shit out of their opponents and the bigger and meaner your team is the more likely it is to stay healthy during a playoff run.

A lot of the Florida / Tampa fan base are Quebec Snowbirds. They even have French language sports news.

The game is not done in. It's played at a faster, higher skill level, it's as rough as it needs to be, more professional, more entertaining than it has ever been.

Besides a goal, there is nothing more exciting then a big hip-check to send the other player flying.... into the boards....

I've been a Habs fan forever and will be cheering madly for them, but.....

Maybe I keep underestimating them....I didn't think they'd beat the Leafs, happy to be wrong.
I thought Price might be enough to get them past the Jets, but in no way did I envision a sweep...I thought with Price&Hellebuck(sp?)
we'd see 7 games of 2-1 and 1-0 type games.

I didn't think they'd beat the Knights, thought maybe they could get to Game 6.
Well, yes, they certainly got to Game 6 alright.Overjoyed to be wrong!

Now facing the champs...again cheering like a lunatic for Les Habs, but not willing to bet on them.

It's sports, upsets happen and they have momentum but T Bay are champs for a reason.

Hope like hell I'm wrong again!

Yes - what he said. Other than being a forever Habs fan. I was up to the WHA expansion then it was the Oilers. But man its hard being an Oilers fan in the modern era.
This Habs team has something special. I have become a believer and I think they'll beat Tampa.

It's that time of year again, even tho' the format is drastically different due to covid.

I'm calling Leafs over Oilers to win the North

Vegas over Colorado to gain the West

T Bay over Carolina in the Central

Bruins over NY in the East.

So, Leafs, Knights,Bolts&Bruins in the semi-finals


The East s/b exciting, the teams are so close I don't think any result could be called an upset.Picking Bruins, just a gut feeling.

hell I picked Colorado and Carolina with Carolina in 6.

Hip check are not illegal. And actually if your are near the boards the board hold the other player up, unlike an open ice check, where the player can go flying... You want speed in hockey, you have to sometimes pay the price......

Well that game last night sucked. The Habs never got uncorked, seemed to have had no energy as per the Vegas matchup. Hoping that will get fixed tomorrow. Had to laugh at the Tampa announcer at one time, as he said "its a scorching 33C out there". Ha! It was 43 at game time where I was.

There are blood sports for fighting etc. In hockey a fight today is to correct someone's assholiness. It is not as someone posted here, the end all of the game. That is so Don Cherry and he was a dinosaur many years before he was turfed. It's a high contact sport and as long as that is clean it enhances the game.

Anyway, come on Habs bring back that energy!!
