The paranoia is insane.

The money was given to researchers from U of A. Yes they're working in "THE" Wuhan lab. This is part of FORTY-SEVEN projects that the government is funding.

Do you really think the prime minister is going to go through every single one of these projects with a fine-tooth comb? Suppose the virus did leak out from the lab, do you think it's now less safe to work there than before? Is it any worse in the lab now than before? Is the work there unique or can be completed elsewhere? I think these are more reasonable questions to ask ourselves.

You're going to see whatever you want to see, and shit like this is what conspiracy theorists live for.
Same lab populated by Chinese scientists banned last year from Canada's main lab in Manitoba for illegally smuggling/shipping intellectual property home. China should be off limits for a lot of things, and especially our tax dollars. Ship that Huawei CFO home in exchange for our three citizens they are holding hostage and tell China to fuck off. They own too much of Canada already.

I don't want to downplay our handling of the virus but have you ever given a second thought to the fact that worldwide 3-4 times as many people die of starvation daily than covid-19? Or that we are more likely in BC(as of yesterday's numbers) to die in a car accident than from covid-19? Or that Italy has the most elderly population in Europe and that their hospitals run near max capacity all the time? Or why heart attacks are being classed as covid deaths without a confirmed test?I'm still social distancing and following protocols but I think a lot of facts are being ignored and I wonder where we end up without full disclosure of facts and wide scale testing

Nevermind what Justin did for Easter. I have bigger concerns. He just gave the same lab in Wuhan that the virus is suspected to have originated from almost a million dollars.

Too funny, when you say 'suspected' and cite a 'reliable' source like Rebel Media, thanks for the laugh - I actually laughed out loud. Glad to know the deplorables are still feverishly gullible.

Evidently he and his large entourage drove. As always with Justin to Canadians, it is do as I say, not as I do.
Drove all 30km to join his family, I know people in Vancouver who are commuting further for work right now.

How 'large' was his entourage? When you use an adjective like 'large' to describe an entourage you really need to give it context. In Entourage it was 3 guys - Turtle, E and Johnny - is that a large entourage? Or was his entourage more like Joe Exotic's or Drake's? See what I mean your descriptor is really meaningless without context. It comes across as you trying to convey excessiveness in a politicized coloured way, meaning your message relies on language as opposed to fact.

I've been thinking about all the people who - haven't - been injured or killed in car incidents since the roads have begun to look like something out of "The Walking Dead".

People who want to risk getting in a "death trap" vehicle are exercising their liberty to pursue happiness as they choose. Just as those who choose not to risk their lives in such vehicles & opt instead for mass transit, bicycling, walking, etc.

Just as those who continue to party & not wear a protective covering, i.e. mask, in the midst of a viral pandemic.

Don't ask me why people are starving when there is more than enough food for everyone on planet earth. It's insane.

2 nannies, 4 bodyguards, 1 stylist, 1 chef, and 1 chef's assistant. Crossing a border into Quebec that ordinary people were turned back at while ignoring his own direction to Canadians to stay home and not visit family over the weekend.

One set of rules for the Laurentian Elite and another for the rest of us.

Haha! Sophie and the kids were already there, so why are the nannies/chefs traveling with him? In no credible news source (CBC, Global, CTV, Globe and Mail, Canadian Press) is any entourage mentioned.

I will chalk it up to your personal embellishment because you are bitter he is the Prime Minister and has soaring popularity. Or it could be because your wife moans his name in her dreams ;)

I believe the government explicitly said that they are not closing provincial borders at this time. Where did you hear that people were getting turned away?

Quebec has it's own provincial police force, which were deployed to set up check points close to the US/Quebec border - I suspect to do random checks and to remind those entering Quebec to self isolate. I don't know if they have been deployed to set up random check points throughout the province and/or major highways/roadways leading in/out towards other provinces (i.e. provincial borders). In any event, I suspect the Quebec Provincial Police actually does not have authority to stop the PM and his security detail. I get that people don't like the man, but the PM being driven 25 kms to see his family - granted it's bad optics, it's not the end of the world.

1: The cottage is an official residence of the PM.
2: The other official residence is a uninhabitable wreck undergoing repairs.
3: It’s a drive comparable to downtown Vancouver to Loughheed Mall, probably shorter.
4: I’ve seen his motorcade while waiting to walk across Wellington and Sussex. 3 cars and a minivan.. For fuck sake he is running a fucking country do you expect him to do it with no help?
5: why isn’t anyone bitching about Scheer dragging his five brats and his wife onto a small plane intended for MPs only?

Right now, it dosen't matter where the virus came from. Its enough to know that it is out there, and will eventually make it into your life whether today, tomorrow or a year in the future.

Hospitals are run with approx 40 to 70% of beds, and they might have extra beds available or a shutdown wing or floor. But this dosen't include ventilators for each bed. For the most part most people will have a minor reaction to the flu virus. Its when he virus hits the lungs and the speed of the infection in the lungs. The reason for self isolating is to prevent the spread of the virus, so hospitals can keep up (with ventilators).
Before this outbreak, our Capitalist system (cost cutting bureaucrats did not want to spend money on health) was not prepared to make the investment in ventillators because they are rarely needed in the average year of cold/flu season or other diseases.

So staying home is the rule right now. Avoid other people and touching things if you are out in the public. Hence the wash your hands campaign.

Eventually there will be a flu shot that will help (timeline next year in 2021), that when everybody has had it, life can return to the old normal. Chances are not, things always change.

Maybe we will get rid of the concept of money... how nice, no more taxes, bills to pay, life would be more simpler....Maybe how Gene Roddenberry envisioned Star Trek through TNG... people didn't need money in that future....

Something people have noticed is the emergency powers the governments have taken on. All of these should be taken back after the threat of the virus/emergency dies down or is dead. I think that some people envision these laws as making everyone slaves to the higher classes. Are we not enslaved by money, taxes, paying bills, etc. already.....apparently we also have a class system too, based on how much money you have. Poor, middle class, rich and politicians.

Mental health issues have been at the forefront of our Canadian society for the last 10 years or so. In this world of competition, workplace politics, the push to succeed at all costs, money has a important factor in our mental health too. With people laid off, and wondering where they are going to get money to pay for their rent, bills etc. Maybe this pandemic with its isolation will give people a new look at how to run our society.

Ever heard that "Money is the root of all evil".....

Also right now its spring, enjoy the weather, nice sunshine, and just enjoy the moment....

Yesterday I needed to grab some groceries and of course I was keeping my distance from everyone.
Suddenly heard some commotion behind me. Two teenage girls obviously friends that haven’t seen each in a long time were hugging, then they said “Omg!!! Can’t believe this! Haven’t seen you in for ever!! Guess we shouldn’t of hugged!!! Ha ha ha! Fuck it whatever!!” Then they shopped together, walking around close to other shoppers including seniors, pushing past them etc!

Couldn’t believe the “We don’t give a fuck attitude!” These girls had! Parenting fail 101!

I’m sure their moronic attitudes would change if their actions caused a family member to get sick and end up on a ventilator!
I just looked at them shaking my head with a “WTF is wrong with you two?” look on my face!
Morons!

I question the decision to not focus on prioritizing and ramping up production of testing as China did, developing a 3-minute blood test to discover immunity, or infected yes/no, and here we are in Canada still doing the generic coronavirus nose swab and 3-5 day turnaround from some lab in Manitoba.

Instead, we have this gleeful mentality that says lets just shut down the planet as a blanket solution.

Easier said than done! Sometimes getting it right is better than getting there first.
