And maybe change your handle. Naming yourself after the brand of cigarettes you smoke may not be the best thing to ensure your success.:)

Good luck.

Lol I'm bad at coming up with usernames and such, the pack was just lying on my coffee table so I did that. :p

Not a fan, never have never will. Cigs, cigars, weed, PTs... big waste of money imo.

I do like reading the messages on the cig. boxes though.

Ive been smoking for about 7 years now, but recently I've been trying to quit. And any good methods of quitting? Ive tried to quit cold turkey and the gum / patch as well. Neither worked out that well. Also what do you all think of the habit? Just curious :p
Smoking is absolutely sick, can't stand it at all

What my dad did to quit was different.

He tried for years, and always failed.

One day, after 8 years or something, he quit his job.
Started a new job, in a completely different field.
Electrician to a Salesman.

He quit then, and it worked. :D
He figured he smoked simply out of routine. So changing everything up at once made it easy. He claims he didn't even have cravings. I think he starting playing racketball at the time too.

Why did you people even start smoking to begin with? What was so appealing about smoking all those deadly chemicals?

Me personally? Stress from family, school, paying for school & rent, and work, and girlfriend. Bunch of things happened during my finals, thats pretty much it. Probably a stupid choice, do I regret it? Not really. Do I want to quit smoking? Definately. Hopefully sooner than later. :p

I'm a reformed smoker, quit some years ago.

Best thing I could have done for my health and wallet. The health benefits are obvious.

Have saved around $20,000 in cigarettes, not to mention dry cleaning bills, mints (for breath), matches/lighters. Plus it's a real hassle to smoke now.

I used the patch to help me thru it, but bottom line is you really have to want to do it.
Yeah that!
The health benefits of quiting are the biggest incentive but the positives go way beyond that as you will no longer smell like an ashtray have chronic bad breath & "Tar Nails".
Those discolored fingers & nails from balancing that fag between yer fingers.

Smoking is absolutely disgusting.

Not only does a smoker endanger her/his own health... but she/he polutes the air, and compromises the health of others around.
Addiction is a powerful thing... and I have heard that smoking is one of the hardest habits to give up. Your health is worth trying and fighting for, though. Yes - there are worse addictions.... but it doesn't lessen the ill effects of nicotine.

There are a few methods of quitting... but it seems that different methods, will work better for different people.
It is disgusting when you think about it as a person who has finally quit, you can look back at it see all that is wrong with it.

So I bought a pack of Camel plains (no filter), knowing that this was not going to be a pleasant experience, but I'd been given no choice by the craving. I got about half a cigarette smoked before I started to turn green. Forced myself to finish the one I had lit & then broke the rest of the pack up, one at a time, & threw them in the hotel toilet.
After I quit the first time I became a "social smoker" which was just demeaning because I would get drunk then had to have a smoke but of course you being a reformed smoker you don't have any smokes so you have to bum on off of somebody else.
So on top of having no will power you are also seen as mooch.

Cigars are an entirely different matter :D
I Agree!

I used to enjoy a smoke when I drank, now I find it repulsive. I can't even believe there was a time (not too long ago) when it was normal to walk into a smoke-filled restaurant or club.

As for quitting, every smoker/ex-smoker has told me the same thing: you really need to want to quit, otherwise nothing will work.

For me "quitting" was easy, I just woke up one morning with horrible taste in mouth and the smell of my clothes making me feel ill. I threw my pack in the bin and stopped.

Unfortunately I was quite a social smoker so just being around friends that smoke was a big trigger for me. Mix that with beer and I'd be smoking 5 in the night and stop again the next day.

It wasn't until I moved cities and had a new social circle that I really quit*

*that being said when I get mega drunk I will every now and again buy a pack. Probably every 6 months or so that will happen. I'll smoke them all and then be done for another 6 months.
I envy you for being able to do that lol. And yea, the social circle i keep is probably the biggest part, and routine.

Smoking and dining out

Never smoked in my life and find it pretty disgusting. My thing over the last few years when I am going to dine out is to go the back of the restaurant and see who is smoking back there or count the number of cigarette butts. Invariably 70% of the time I end up not dining out from what I see in the back. Having worked in the hospitality/entertainment business for over 25 years I know that 80% of the smoking staff do not wash their hands after smoking even though they take that lame food safe course.

I have saved a lot of money by making much better food at home, rather than knowing some smoker has been handling my food.:)

I quit smoking tobacco 3 times. For some reason, it is so easy for me to pick it up and put it down. I smoke the odd smoke or cigar but was never a fan and only did it for social reasons. I still smoke weed but have cut back to maybe a 1/4 of what i used to do. As was mentioned before, smoking in this city is becoming a hassle, which I think is somewhat discriminatory. I think there should still be smoking and non smoking areas in bars. I think work places should accomodate smokers to a certain degree at work. Make them pay through maintaining their habit and raising their insurance premiums. Smokers are made to be pirriahs in today's society, it's a joke.

As for smoking and seeing an SP, i say use the two hour rule. Don't haver a smoke 2 hours before a session and if you do, brush and rinse your mouth afterwards. A shower would also be advised. I don't mind it if the women have a cigarette before or after but they always extend the curtosy of asking first. I'll even share a puff with a few ladies who are 420 friendly. Maybe because I've been around it all my life it doesn't bother me, but I do see why people are uncomfortable with it.
