I do a lot of driving obviously so I get to see a lot of stuff.I have noticed both Shaganappi Point has taken the covers off the greens and the same for Inglewood in the last week.Truth be told I see a lot of the glorious Spring rebirth going on in the last week.Lots of green going on and trees are budding.I love the season of rebirth after the long dark season of death which is Winter. To me the idea of locking down golf courses seems idiotic at best.Given some sensible measures the golf season can proceed just fine.

#1 limit the number of people in line at the clubhouse.
#2 No power cart or pull cart rentals so as to get rid of points of contact.
#3 remove ball washers so as to get rid of points of contact.
#4 get rid of the rakes for bunkers to get rid of points of contact.
#5 Do not pull the flag stick so as to get rid points of contact.
#6 Social distancing obviously.
#7 No gathering around after a round for a beer and no handshakes after a round.

I think what I propose is quite smart and obvious.

Those are the protocols at my course (except #2...one per cart and all points sprayed-down) coming this Tuesday

The courses open now have very good Covid protocols in place. At the courses I have played and the guys I have played with, everyone is doing a pretty good job following the guidelines. The only issue now is that it is getting tough to get decent golf times...

Let's keep them open....and anyone who is out there golfing, please follow the rules and stay healthy....leave your friends's balls alone lol

The physical exercise is excellent.

Some courses have turned the cups upside down or stuffed them with a pvc pipe, so no reaching in. Also, a club length away is a gimme. Lose the power carts and use individual pull carts or carry bags.

A nod or an elbow bump and head the fuck home. A Zoom with a Brew works for my pals after a hot shower.

All good points. What about:
-Space tee times apart more. Rather than have tee times every 7 minutes make it every 15 plus you can't tee off until the party in front of you has cleared the green.
-Remove air hoses (touch points) so you can't clean off your cleats. Put them in a bag and clean them ar home
-Show up five minutes before your tee time and park every other parking space

Our golf courses in MB are opening up next week with the majority of the previously mentioned restrictions in place. Golf is probably one of the few sports where people are naturally socially distanced and with the additional restrictions I don't see it being an issue as long as people abide by the rules. Overall I'm just happy that I'll be able to get out and hack around on the golf course.

Im curious, who voted "No it is far too dangerous to the public" ? And I'm also curious about the details as to why you, whoever you are, chose that vote.

Shut it down......turn them into campgrounds for the homeless bunch from Oppenheimer and for all the folks living in campers and the like on City streets.

My asnswer to you comment is a quote from Jeff Goldblum from Jurrassic Park The lost world, "That is the worst idea in the long, sad history of bad ideas"

City of Vancouver getting uncomfortable about the 2020 deficit when the answer is right in front of them: close Langara golf course, rezone it all as high density residential and sell off parcels for a billion a pop.

I am dying to know the rationale behind voting for that^^

One can easily social distance while golfing. Getting outside for fresh air, sunlight and exercise will help to strengthen your immune system.

True, we could social distance while golfing, but we just can’t help tippling martinis on 3, knuck bumping on a short 7, passing the dutchie on 11, and corn-holing on 15. After that, it’s just a shit show. Then we fight for the air wand back at the clubhouse, spray grass and clever insults at each other, dance monkey in the parking lot. Yup, we should be banned. Sigh.

For the golfers, yes. For the throngs in the galleries, many of whom would be older folks who still bother with watching golf, not so much. If the season happens, it may be without fans, and that would be fine. TV should suffice. Golf is a dying sport anyway, lots of courses were in big trouble before this even started.
