It seems to me that you are at a major crossroad in your life. Clearly, this has nothing to do with the one gal. You say that you are considering non-sexual friendships before "jumping in with both feet". Clearly there is something profoundly missing from your life right now.
Do you love your wife and do you want to preserve your marriage? If so, take immediate and aggressive steps to assert that fact in your life.
If not, then you may wish to consult a family lawyer to prepare for the inevitable.
Do you have children? What you do next will affect them too.
Do you like the life you have now? What will your life be like after the house is gone and half your income goes to child and spousal support payments?
Perhaps some personal counselling would be in order for you right now. Whatever you do, don't be "penny wise but pound foolish"; spend whatever it takes now to sort this out with professional help - no amount spent today in an effort to repair things will be even remotely comparable to the cost you will incur should your marriage come to an end.
