Record or no record, getting reimbursed or not, I think you did the right thing.

Thats what i meant.

This clown admitted to swinging the club, so that will be in his file, and if he tries it again the police will know about this incident. This is how i wanted the police to pursue this. So there was some record or case file. --- Kev

...the damage was only cosmetic.
Kev, there are some small mobile operators that car dealers use, who can repair small scratches and minor dents for a lot less than a body shop charges. Body shops are geared to the ICBC cash cow, and any minor scratches usually require all the usual time and material rates and procedures like, large area sanding, full masking and painting to achieve a factory original, near-perfect match.

As a consequence of this, a small parking lot encounter with a shopping cart invariably turns into a $500+ bill. However, these small operators use air brushes, clay bars and lots of other tricks to keep the cost down to a fraction of the above, and achieve similar results. Ask your dealer who they use - new car dealers will usually hire the most reliable ones. That should save you a bundle of your out-of-pocket bling-bling.

Hope this helps!

Maury...

The damage believe it or not was to the door panel. It wraps around the top of the door and butts into the window. Its here on top of the door that the club struck. So i have vinyl and some rubber damage. --- Kev
