But life experience has taught me its best to not be kind and gentle to manipulative antisocial predators.
Whatever works for you in the real life may not look as reasonable on the forum. You cannot see the person, don't interact with them much, and don't have influence on them.
Did replying to any troll fix them? The more attention they get, the happier they are.
Did replying to a creep fix them? A sociopath will ignore your words and move on, your comment does not impact his life.
The only time the negativity has impact is when you are wrong and the other person is at least half-decent.
If you think its likely that he simply chose poor wording, you obviously weren't paying attention.
Let's pay attention: nobody said it was likely. It was one of the three possibilities I listed.
The post was not obviously ban-worthy. If it was, tell me which of 18 "original" PERB guidelines it violated, and I'll regret I haven't flagged it myself.
I understand what triggered your reaction. That was exactly one word, PUA abbreviation in the post title.
The post body did not make any reference to it and was rather accurately worded. It did not provably show the poster was trying to "take advantage" of any woman, unless consensual adult sex qualifies as that.
So, given that you and I don't have a crystal ball to judge a person by one word, I'm not impressed when a person is treated to a chain of insults in the line of "you shouldn't get laid", "nobody will want you", etc.
This is not gender-specific and does not limit your right to comment, vent, make your own opinion about an individual, or report them. I believe people advancing PUA agenda or promoting their leaders get banned here. It can be a judgement call. So I'd rather see mods handling it, which they do without emotions, feeding of trolls, or bumping their threads.
