Not to mention the monumental waste of time. If there's no damage to either vehicle then just leave. I'm not condoning what the lady said in the video but last I checked, being a racist isn't a crime.
"How does the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms protect people from racism and hate crime?

"It is illegal to advocate genocide, publicly incite hatred or wilfully promote hatred based on national or ethnic origin, race, religion, skin colour and sexual orientation. Depending on the situation, the use of racist slurs may not be illegal under the Criminal Code of Canada. However, the person using them may subject themselves to an investigation under federal human rights legislation. The use of such terms is not tolerated in Canadian society."

FFS, all this over licence plates touching? I won’t condone the comments by Waldman but Xu waiting for the other driver to return seems like baiting and looking for a fight.
A big but is condoning racism. Victim blaming is a form of racism.

Is telling someone their a bad driver prosecutable?

Is telling someone of visible Chinese descent they belong in China, racist?

Is blowing a raspberry at someone, racist?

Is a bygone children's taunt prosecutable?

I've been called racist names in the past. Frankly, it's a childish and stupid way to argue a point, and I've always laughed at specific comments. That's a lot more effective than public shaming, tribunals or prosecution. Doing that just entrenches their views. Laughing at them show them to be ignorant fools.

I think I read somewhere she's a teacher? If so, God help the kids in her classroom, they've got a nutter to deal with.

Also, how does a racist Asian-hater deal with Asian students, which, if she's teaching anywhere in Metro Van,she'll have Asian kids in her classroom.

One possible explanation...har name is waldman, so she's a jew..maybe she works at talmud torah(sp?)a private school for jewish kids?

Is telling Jagmeet Singh he belongs to India racist?
How about telling Barack Obama he belongs to Kenya?

I think that's a no brainer.

My general reaction to your post is "oh my!"

My specific response is:

Is telling someone their a bad driver prosecutable? First of all this is not a civilian's job to do that. Unless you are trying to create a scene.

Is telling someone of visible Chinese descent they belong in China, racist? Did you mean they belong TO China? (as in, they hail from there) or Belong in China? (as in you shouldn't have come here)

I think it is totally wrong to say to a person of type X that they are a bad drivers because they are from a certain race is not only stupid, it is downright wrong.

So each time person of race Y does something wrong, you are going to paint whole race Y with the same brush. Brilliant!!

I am not sure what your descent is but I wonder how aboriginals would feel about every person whose forefathers came here, including yours. Unless of course you are pure bred Native. If you are not, then don't YOU belong to where ever your forefathers come from?
I wonder why you have been called racist names in the past (your words, not mine).

Again, the Canadian Charter of Rights does not explicitly say being racist is a crime and punishable by law. There are millions of Canadians who you would consider a "racist" but guess what? They haven't broken any laws despite their beliefs and/or preferences. It's only a crime WHEN YOU ACT ON IT. Same goes for this woman that people are so appalled by. It was a PARKING DISPUTE that turned ugly. No crime was committed. Get over it.

Sort of off topic but both cars and social media seem like a good idea on the surface, but in the end bring out the worst in people.

Nobody is calling that woman a criminal. So, get over the idea that anyone is saying she has committed a crime. That's not why the video clip went viral.

It went viral because it showed a racist woman publicly hurling racist slur at an individual.

For something to be of public interest or unacceptable it doesn't have to be of criminal nature.

The Liberals today turfed a candidate in Quebec for anti-semite comments. The racist woman in Richmond parking lot video may not be criminal, but she can forget about aspiring to hold a public office or may even hold a job.

I feel sorry for her children. She's pathetic.

Not mentioned thus far in this thread is the "Orwellian Factor" which when it comes down to brass tacks PEOPLE have to keep in the back of their collective heads. You cant go anywhere these days and interact with people in a negative way without it being recorded on camera. The smallest thing triggers special interest groups and it is just fucking stupid.

I remember back when I was a kid in 1978-1981 going to the dentist/doctor and the reading material in the waiting room was "Bedtime Stories" by Chester A Arthur....if those books(hardbound coffee table books) were in a dentist/doctors waiting room today it would be an SJW outrage over it.....HOW DARE YOU ESPOUSE CHRISTIAN VALUES....in this INCLUSIVE Society of today.

All I can say it that is all pretty fucked in general and EVERONE is walking on eggshells.

If we are an "INCLUSIVE" Society then why are people called "Islamaphobic" at the drop of a hat?Why are people called "Homophobic" at the drop of a pin.

It has gotten really stupid in the last say 20 years.Far too much Political Correctness as pushed by the Media(left wing media) and forced down out collective throats.

Way back in the day when this shit started which is Social Engineering in 3rd grade I did not pass a test and some sniveling ass kissing teacher assistant gave me back my failing test and rubbed it in.Out of the blue I just blurted out and called him a "paki" and he was a "white guy" same as me.The POS whined to the teacher who berated me in front of the entire class and said that I had uttered a "racial slur".After she was done with her rant and I then responded by saying "how is it a racial slur if he is white and so am I?"

Well the Teacher did not like to take her beating on the moral ground and I got punished whilst with the higher ground.

That being said.....all thanks to Political Correctness these days OUR Society is pretty fucked up and stupid.

My comments were originally directed at this post, not at your silly referencing of the Charter of Rights:
The R. v. Keegstra SCC judgement of 1990 may provide some insight.

James Keegstra of Alberta was charged and convicted of hate speech (i.e., antisemitic statements) in 1984. The conviction was overturned on appeal by Appeals Court of Alberta but was reinstated by Supreme Court of Canada in R. v. Keegstra ruling of 1990.

Hate speech is not protected by Freedom of Speech Charter Rights. It is codified in Criminal Code.

Racial hate should not be normalized. Resistance to it should not be trivialized as political correctness.

LOL and that ONE conviction brought forth by Mr. Broken Record was originally overturned due to freedom of speech infringement. Attempting to brainwash kids as a power of authority will usually net you some jail time, regardless of the message/content.

The conviction was reinstated by the Supreme Court.

The Keegstra case was not about the abuse of power. It was about hate speech. The Keegstra guy tried to protect himself under Free Speech right under the Charter and failed.

That much everyone who trivializes hate speech should know.
