how about old man entitlement
the phrase white entitlement gets thrown around a lot,

I don't really understand it,

im in my mid sixties worked like fifty years. still working a full time job ok

and I look at some of these whining twenty something's even thirty and forty something's
and they whine bitch and complain,
I look at them are you for real.

I walk around with a sense of entitlement shit yea
if after fifty some years of working, fuck yes, I feel entitled
to some punk with a clip board and a cell phone that calls himself a project manager,
I just look at him the the boss the owner of the company and just dare them to go ahead and fire me,

the young kids now days are over qualified, they got sold on some university or tech degree that is useless.
they are just mailing it in waiting for one of there job applications to come through, so they can do what they were trained to do.
or some guy not trained for nothing but is way to delicate and sensitive to get dirty,
that leaves me and old guys like me, and the guy with the clip board who is related to the boss and knows shit about shit.

even on this board,
your a lurker don't review people bitch at you,
you comment, someone takes a snotty attitude with you and you give it back maybe not so polite,
and you get banned and threatened
listen up boy any more like then and it will be a six month ban,

I dunno its just a silly world for us old guys sometime, dammed if you do dammed if you don't
your old and have the experience
but the young guys just want you the fuck out of the way,
but all they do is why and complain, and they have no clue how easy it is now days. none,
compared to what it was like working the job fifty years ago.

and I just want to tell them I earned my dues,
so fuck off

Did they do away with Craigslist's Rants and Raves as well? Some days the Lounge gives it a run for it's money.

YES I love the rant.... Its tough being old... I often will say to a young person on the net when getting reminded of something.... "I guess the Islander is too old to know everything!"

I hate getting old. My flexibility is all gone and I cant squeeze into my car anymore when someone parks too close to my door. Cowgirl has become my favorite position because I just have to lie there while someone bounces on top of me.

Till a few years ago, I used to shudder at the thought of being old, but then in March 1998 they 'came up' with Viagra and suddenly, 'out of the blue', I was happy again.

Now I know that the most critical organ of my body will stay functional till the end.

I am usually pretty good with younger people. Only time I can recall recently when I got really offhand remarks from a Sales Guy about some tech products I was interested in for my home theatre. He gave me pretty useless replies to my questions so I started quoting some of the Tech specs I had researched and hit him with some pointed questions about the two products I had narrowed it down to. He suddenly figured out this old guy knew WTF he was talking about and turned tail to get his manager who is about my age. The manager just grinned at me.

Your only as young as you think you are.... Try new things everyday.... keep in mind the physical stuff, yup your mind says yes, but the body knows those aches and pains... and says no....

So you have to compromise.....

BBB as for young sales persons, I tend to find them lacking in knowledge of the products they sale. If your trying to sale a TV, know something about TVs....

Anyone enter a store with lots of salespersons (young) with the majority of them checking out their cellphones.....

7 of 9 "and I just want to tell them I earned my dues," or paid my dues. I had a conversation with a person who told me that onetime years ago (he was kinda an asshole boss, who I thought was a fuckup), I made myself a promise I was not ever going to use that line to people. I get your feelings about young inexperienced workers, sometimes you just want to take a hammer to their heads... and sometimes it gets to much and you have to say "What the fuck!! Are you doing??"

He who whines the most, gets the most. Mostly true, if there is a problem, people have to speak up, just remember if there is a problem, suggest a solution...

As for White Entitlement- its there and its wrong for any society to have it. If you see whine about it....

As for age entitlement- in a decade or so I will get that seniors discount. Maybe I will age gracefully, with a couple of grumbles here and there.

Gee I grew up with a dad that was 40 yrs older then me .
Had been in a war for 6 yrs and lived in half a dozen counties. He did know more then me and had done far more then me .Maybe more then most people even here in Canada when he inaugurated...and he all ways used that to be right..
The problem was it was old knowledge from the 20s,30s,40s and 60s. Neet to know if you wanted to survive but was getting out dated.
As I grew up I learned new things and different ways to do things..i also was interested in many things and try My best to do them ,like my dad . But he stoped learning and I still was...

It caused many arguments and I think even his drinking probkem be cause he did have a sense of entitlement. And wanted respected for what he knew even though now he was out dated and wrong in some of his ways of doing things and his attitudes...

If you think age brings entitlement..you need to allso keep up to date and acknowledge that you also dont know everything.

I am almost 64 .I know my limits of knowledge but still am interested in new things to learn. Past experiences make it easier to learn some new things.. but at know time do i think i am entitled to be listened too because I am older then a 20 something.. if I got some thing useful and interesting to offer they might listen if they care interested but if not I'll notice and really don't care.

I work with a bunch of older guys and through out my life there all ways were interesting things I heard from my elders .I enjoyed it ..but allso as we get older we do run out if things to say and start repeating the good old days with old attitude that don't go over to day or work in this new world..
We all need to know our limitation..as Dirty Harry put it .
