if anyone is remotely interested in cycling culture or want to understand what passion is,
I highly recommend seeing Marinoni: The Fire in the Frame.
Where could I find that documentary ? Netflix ? Thank you in advance

Saw this on Superchannel over the weekend and was blown away. Basically it is a documentary of a movie that was never made but influenced every sci-fi movie since.

I think it's still available via on-demand.

If you are a fan of Sci-fi movies it is a must see.

Look left. Way left.
Steve Carrall was fantastic in Foxcatcher, a decent movie overall. Red Army was a great movie for hockey fans and for anyone interested in Soviet history.

I saw this over the weekend (I will see the Avengers Monday aftn). Totally blown away with the concept of this film. A very intelligent 'talky' sci fi film with an incredible ending. It will stay will you for weeks!
I went and watched this last night and I too think it was very good. It's quite beautiful visually and rather haunting in tone. And future canadian is quite right about the poignant end.

Mad Max: Fury Road

My expectations may be a little too high. But I'm very excited to see this one. I'm going to the 10:00 PM show tonight! :D

Saw it last night. In summary - AWESOME! Spectacular action sequences, many nods to the original movies. Great characterization, except for Max himself who I thought was poor (not bashing Tom Hardy - I think he did his best with what he had to work with). Standouts were Charlize Theron and Nicholas Hoult as the crazy Nux. I saw it in Real 3D but didn't think the 3D added anything - I will probably see it again in regular format.

BD
Agree 3-D added nothing, but I was disappointed in the movie in general. Two hours of the same thing, often confusingly rendered, and the sped up frame rate was really annoying throughout the whole movie.

The breeder women's acting was particularly amateurish and some of the minimal dialogue was painful. I know this kind of movie isn't based on Shakesperean dialogue, but still, some of it was almost like porn acting.

It all looked good, though.

Finally saw Ex Machina.

Very nicely done. Visually appealing, well acted and a different kind of feel.

Recommended: Yes
Repeat: May be a few years later if it is on TV. :)

Agreed on the great characterization part. And storytelling is top notch. It follows the "show, don't tell" cinematics principle. You are shown how chaotic the world has become. You are shown the fanatic admiration that the Warboys have by their suicidal tendencies. It delivers the world and theme without pausing for a midpoint narrative.

Easily my favorite movie this year.

"A low budget horror film with virtually no special effects that does it with a creepy sense of dread plot line."

You nailed it. I got the same impression. Interesting visuals but nothing new really.

Gone Girl; a mediocre movie with a woman who disappears and circumstances bring the husband under suspicion, Ben Afleck stars.

Guardians of the Galaxy; recommend this film, Star Wars meets heavy metal, lots of kooky characters, action F/x, comedy, 4\5

Rush: a superb film that nicely captures a glamourus era in formula 1, Nickie Lauda vs James Hunt. Excellent casting and acting, plus great old school racing cars. Recommended
