Lol. And why do you assume the PM thinks otherwise? Is no one permitted to misspeak? Why do you assume it's something to do with race? Could it not be that the two were talking about China and the PM simply misspoke when reporters asked a question? Are you Japanese and personally offended by the PM's words? Are you not Japanese and just offended on behalf of all Japanese people?
Japanese consider Chinese to be of inferior ethics, and Chinese people have ancestral hatred against the Japanese.
This is a very big faux-pas in either direction.
I wouldn't fault the PM for it though, as I believe it to be a mistake.

The PM's incompetence and your embarrassment are one thing. But what does either of those two things have anything to do with, what seems to be based on your original post, your assertion that the PM believes that all Asian men look the same? If you believe the man is incompetent, you most certainly can state your belief. If you are embarrassed by what he said, again, you most certainly could've stated that as well. But to imply a person sees all Asian men as looking the same is clearly not the same as stating he is incompetent or that you are embarrassed by what he said. So, if you believe the PM sees all Asian men as looking the same, simply state it. Since you implied it, do you believe the PM sees all Asian men look the same?

That's the whole point, OP insinuated that the PM sees all Asian men looking the same based on saying "China" when he should've said "Japan". Now the OP follows up with competence as his apparent point. If misspeaking is a sign of incompetence so be it. If all that you cite is evidence of incompetence so be it. But none of that is evidence that the PM believes all Asian men look the same - it's merely an attempt to connect two unrelated things. Misspeaking may be evidence of incompetence, but it's dubious at best to say that provides evidence of how someone sees all Asian men.

If someone who misspeaks, can't form a coherent sentence or says "uh, umm" a lot is your definition of an embarrassment, so be it. I care not how someone defines what an embarrassment is. However; I do care when OP implies that a person sees all Asian men as looking the same and uses dubious evidence to demonstrate that implied assertion. Do you see the difference?

There was nothing dubious, or demonstrative....I took it as the OP couldn't believe the PM would make such a mistake, as the two nations have a distaste for each other ,reaching back a thousand years.
It was questioning the PM's lack of judgement....I don't believe it was a racial slur....it was simply a question.
At least that's how I took it anyways...but remember I'm not an Asian male, but I do understand an awful lot about Japanese culture....and that mistake from a world leader, would have not sat well with a Japanese dignitary.

When I answered the OP's question as to whether "do all Asian men look the same" with a simple no. To which the OP stated "tell Justin", which infers a belief that the PM believes otherwise. And I specifically called the OP out, to either confirm or deny whether OP believes the PM sees all Asian men as looking alike - no veiled assumptions or implicit assertions, just straight up say what he thinks. Instead the OP sidesteps and brings up incompetence. If OP believes the PM or anyone is a person that sees all Asian men as looking the same: one that's a borderline acquisition of racism and two, instead of beating around the bush with veiled questions and dubious evidence of saying "China" instead of "Japan", OP should just come out and say it or clarify his stance. All OP's subsequent talk about competence, his Asian family members, his trip to Asia where people made comments about his nose is just sidestepping and avoidance. Its a mistake that no competent leader of a country should ever make in a public forum and just another in a long list of international gaffes made by Justin Trudeau and his government from interfering in the Barbados election with gender equity proposals, to India, to snubbing the Belgium royals on their state visit to Canada and on and on and on.
