What I suggest is find someone who you trust a woman or a man who gives a shit and buy a place together that way you split the liability and you put your resources together to be able to afford a decent place.

Maybe the difference is a person can afford real estate elsewhere. The diff can be 300K+ lol.

Consult with a realtor, a broker, a financial analyst but do something if you really and truly wish to buy property otherwise live with it cause if you have not bought here what difference does it make to compare other places. Face reality you live here.

I think he was suggesting that you form a partnership with a group of single people.

The first property I owned was a house that we divided into 4 suites. It worked quite well as we paid for the house in 5 years and were able to use our shares to buy our own houses.

That's a little harder to do because the civic governments no longer allow people to put in the kitchens and bathrooms that we put in. Each suite had it's own kitchen, bathroom and meters. Now, they make you share kitchens which means you have to like your partners a lot more than we did.

Small spaces aren't a huge thing when you don't have children, however I've always hated sharing a kitchen with people as you always have the one who thinks they can use other people's food and dishes.

Actually...

If you read my post, I actually suggest other places to live (Calgary or Halifax), that seem to be better for younger people...in my opinion.

Vancouver is grossly over-priced, so why would I want to buy a home here or worse, go into a partnership with a bunch of people? Why stop there? Why not have 12 people in a house and pay it off in 2 years, and keep doing it over and over? If my math is correct within 10 years, you could all be living in a palace... - I believe East Indians do this, plus they eat paste and work 80 hrs a week, drive shit old American cars, and worship GOD...never really enjoying one day in their lives...

Every major city has their pros and cons for living there:) . I prefer a place close to nature and away from the hussel and bussel of everyday life in the major centers.
Vancouver is not a shithole but a major city with several problems similiar to Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto, Winnipeg and other major centers in the U.S.A.

Thats what the casinos are built on - gamblers losing their money are an excellent revenue source. I wouldn't say they were dum just foolish. But hey its there money and they enjoy doing it.
Casino junkies do not enjoy losing their money. They are depressed addicts whose lives center completely on trying to win their losses back. One day of big win is followed by five days of big losses, loans from sharks and a miserable life. Gambling is a whirlpool that sucks everything a person is. Just ask anyone who knows a gambling addict well. It is criminal that society sanctions casinos and the mental illness they give rise to. Government doesn't care... casino gambling is just another way that BC premier Campbell taxes the average and lower income folks.

No it's not! You've obviously never been here and seen too many of those fake postcards. This isn't quite Vancouver, it's right next door in Burnaby. I just stepped outside and took this....

Waaayyyyyy overpriced real estate.
Tons of junkies and street people
Horrible Traffic

Need I say more?
I just come back from San Francisco. If you compare the real estate price there with Vancouver. Vancouver is very reasonable. The average home price in San Francisco is around US$650,000. Vancouver is still a long way to catch up. There are way more people living in San Francisco. When you talk about traffic,it is better for you to take public transist than to drive there. The public parking there is so bloody expensive.

No matter which big city you go ,you will encounter the same problems. In a way you should count all the blessings you have here in Vancouver!;) As least up to now we are safe from natural diasters or wars!

Lots of gays down there, eh? Oh well, just wait for the next strain of AIDS to blow through, I bet you'll get some great deals after that one.

Exactly...it's not as though we'll get any earthquakes or anything any time soon.

Where ever did you get a picture of Burnaby after Lee Rankin became mayor?

Well then INTHEBUM it seems that we are not able to discourage you from making a rather general and empty accusation about this city. You seem to have issues with jealosy or perhaps some sort of childhood event spoiled your life. Maybe you were never taugh that you get what you work for. Perhaps if life had given you the choice of being one of those rich little bastards who get everything from mommy and daddy you would not complain at all. Well it is that time my friend to put a sock in it. You have ranted about prices about work and about people. Your opininon is loud and clear. I just hope that some day you are happy where ever it is that you end up at. For the greatest discory man has ever made is that fate can be altered by changing one's attitude. Peace out!

You obviously have a small penis, belong to a religious cult, and currently enjoy long walks in the park with your lover, Gary...

God I hate cocksuckers born with a silver spoon in their mouth. An before anyone pipes up about being jealous, that's not the issue. It's that they lack the appreciation of what it's like to work long and hard for a few measly dollars.

Really Damaged. Those that are born with a silver spoon in their mouths are a good thing. They recycle the money their parents earned into my pockets much faster than someone like you.

I am so jealous. My parent took all my money and I had to build my business and career with my bare hands. :)
