Well I give up on this thread cuz when the most intelligent thing someone can come up with is name calling, how do you have a discussion without lowering yourself? Not worth getting banned as I am having too much of a blast in chat these days. I've learned that regardless what someone thinks, it does not change what is. Which leads me to my next point :) ...

As far as the elevators Wolvie, I will maybe take a jar with me and save ya some next time lol. For now, the way most guys like to settle things here is by post count, so let's go with , I don't know what I smelled cuz I have fewer posts lol. :) I am just thankful that my knee got better and it was a short ride lol.

since you don't need a passport to go to Red Deer, is that
part of Vancouver too???

lets face it, if you have crossed a bridge, you are no longer
in Vancouver ...

LG - I think Szabina is referencing Greater Vancouver, (that is quite common) which includes all of the lower mainland. On the other hand, Red Deer is not part of Calgary metro area, its about half way to Edmonton.

As for people pissing in elevators - I work in a Vancouver office tower and there is the occasional time this has happened. It's an unmistakeable odor.

In the Bum, you should check out Boston Bar. I was looking through MLS listings the other day and noticed you can get a 3 bedroom house there, on a HUGE lot for $130K.

Ya Vancouver has really started going down hill. More litter bugs around
have to clean up the front all the time.

Poor, homeless, thieves, etc already to rob you blind. So far two stolen
lawnmowers, two ladders, and every year vehicles broken into 2 or 3 times.
Broken door window glass. Not just me the neighbours too. Hole kicked into garage door, car spray bomb, etc...

Stats indicate that more people are working poor, even with two jobs.
Just think, there are lots of jobs. Ya ya Walmart is now coming......who wants to work there!! All that leads to is more poor people and more crime.
That leads to a cry for more LE and more taxes to pay for it all.

Those that think Vancouver is great do not notice what is really going on
in the city. All they do play play play in the safe tourism areas not work and live in the actual Vancouver. What kind of city is this where you have to
have Police, rent-a-cops, community patrols, security cameras, locks, gated
fences, and have to keep an eye out for riff raff all day and all night.
All you have to do is count the number of rent-a-cop outfits there are now
to 20 years ago.

That is not any different than any other major city on this planet.

Actually it is... clearly you don't travel.
The property crime rate in Vancouver is the worst in NORTH AMERICAN...not just Canada.

And what do you base that on? Property crime is only one of many criteria you should look at. You did not even mention Property crime when you opened this thread. As I said above, try some of the places like Kingston Jamaica, Mexico City, Washington DC, Chicago, Detroit, downtown LA and you'll have a greater appreciation for Vancouver.

Not trying to brag but, I've probably travelled more than you have sonny. I've been all over the world, (not just Canada/North America). I hold dual citizenship in Canada and Germany, speak several languages. I have been to more countries around the world than most people here:

China, (including Hong Kong and PRC),Israel, Cyprus, Palestine, Germany, Austria, Holland, France, Belgium, England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, Mexico, Jamaica just to name a few.

Vancouver is one of the nicest places you are ever likely to find, but hey, no one is forcing you to live here.

Too many lesbo dykes in Vancouver. They're fucking annoying. The town would be a lot better without them and their male counterparts.

Anyhow, still Vancouver can't compete with Las Vegas. That's the best city in the whole world both to visit and to live!

Is the Georgia Viaduct a bridge?
if we're talking Downtown proper, then yes!

otherwise, I meant the Lions Gate, Second Narrows and Port Mann ;)

Thank Christ you don't live here.
You should consider Texas. Sounds like you'd fit right in there.

Most people just stay in the airconditiond casinos and blow their hard earned cash.

Vegas is a super-duper place to vacation, but IMHO, I don't think you'd want to live there.

The only real IT job there is coding slot machines, and that doesn't pay very well compared to what you'd make in other cities. Other than that, there's nothing but customer service type jobs in the casinos, mainly. Otherwise, most work at nearby Nellis Air Force Base or Area 51 :)eek: ) for military pay.

The only way you'd really get ahead in the casinos is by making connections, greasing palms, and hoping that that will come back to reward you some day. But everyone is doing that, and that takes political skills that most people don't have.

Vegas is the fastest growing city, but there are also just as many folks "Leaving Las Vegas," quietly with failed dreams. Vegas historians themselves have predicted that the tourism boom will eventually plateau, the attraction will wear off, and growth will be stunted.

I also saw a documentary where the experts are concerned about Vegas' water supply. Vegas gets its water from the Colorado River, which the eggheads say is drying up. At the rate at which the tourists and the casinos use (more like waste) water, they predict that rationing may begin as early as 2010!

Why not be a poker pro in vegas?

Then again, most people are too dumb to play the game at even a skilled level, let alone handle the swings...

Thats what the casinos are built on - gamblers losing their money are an excellent revenue source. I wouldn't say they were dum just foolish. But hey its there money and they enjoy doing it.
