Internet Explorer - Color Of Visited Sites

Question is simple.

How do I stop IE to show the sites I visited in the normal blue color instead of its default purple color. It even happens to the sites I have visited during In Private browsing as well as when I am browsing In Private.

If someone wants to check what sites I visit, they can simply start typing all the letters of the alphabets one by one and viola !!!

A bunch of online articles that I found just go in circles.

Thanks.

Click on the cog - upper right hand corner of the explorer screen

Choose internet options from the drag down menu

Under the "General" tab, click the Delete browsing history on exit

Should work

No, it doesn't work. That's what I did right from day one. Even tried it before posting this thread. I even deleted EVERYTHING that i gave me options for by checking all the boxes.

In fact, my default setting is to delete history at the end of the session. The most ironic thing is that I can still see the visited sites in different color fonts even during InPivate browsing.

If this was something I had to worry about the first thing I would do is stop using IE. If you don't hae firefox installed on your computer start with installing it, it has better control over deleted history and cookies.

After you install it move from your main menu of programs so no one even knows its installed. You can find it here- C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu or right click the shortcut in programs and click more/file location. It will take you right to the shortcut. Move it somewhere in your own files, (cut/paste) filelocker folder would be the best so it is hidden.

So now no one can easily tell you have firefox installed on your computer and you use if for all your surfing and have it delete history on exit. You are now double protected. If someone already uses firefox on your computer then try chrome, can probably do the same thing.

Good luck

I already have Firefox, although I rarely use it. The problem is that certain sites only work on IE. :)

I haven't used IE for years and almost only use firefox. Haven't found a site yet that doesn't load properly. Think as PB said, you only need to update it.

If the History option was checked, it should have reset the link colour.

See if it actually deleted the history. Go to Favorites (click the star icon), and switch to History tab. When it's not cleaned, it shows links grouped by date (Today, Yesterday, etc.). After cleaning, History should have nothing (or maybe one recent link listed under Today group).

When you use InPrivate browsing, it should not record any new History entries (but you will see a different link colour if it was visited outside of InPrivate and stayed in History).

firefox eh, I am using chrome and it's been so damn slow esp on facebook (i'm in a lot of groups with thousands of people) and its sooo horribly slow, so when I use microsoft edge on windows 10 it's much faster...but I still use chrome for other things, hmm maybe I should try firefox :O I used to use it back in 2005 and haven't used it since LOL...I want to import everything from chrome into whatever new browser, so even passwords and everything :( edge doesn't, hopefully firefox will, i'm just way too lazy...
