Great story! Those Thai taxi's do rip off the girls so bad, don't they. A trip that costs us 100 baht costs them 2000!

In about 30 months in Bangkok since 2007 i can't say i've seen even a single instance of that (old guys with underage females). Maybe i don't get out enough, or don't go to the "wrong places".
Certainly there are many old guys there i've noticed with young ladies of legal sex work age, per both Thai and Canadian law, walking around together, sometimes even holding hands. I'm sure many retired fellows get together with young adult SP's in Canada, too. Some local SP's here even prefer the more mature clients and refuse to see young men. In Thailand i'd suggest the well refined gentleman is even more appreciated.
(I find the most "upsetting" aspect of seeing these "couples" together is that the aged guys are often with hotties who i would like to bang.)
Not that illegal activities with underage girls don't occur in both countries. I'm sure they do. There are online forum reports of some venues in BKK having low or mid teenage employees who "go with" customers. One day, to my surprise, i saw 2 ladyboy "streetwalkers" with a tiny girl who they told me was 15, but who looked younger than that.
They made it clear she was "available", though their intention may have been to scam someone, possibly in leaque with the police. It wouldn't be the first time that has happened, where a foreigner is given the choice between jail or paying a large sum of cash.
From my experience in & reading re Bangkok, independents (indies) who work with foreigners usually go for 1000 baht ($30 Canadian) for one pop. These include workers on the street and in places like coffee shops, pool halls, etc. More attractive SP's in fancier venues may ask for more, from 2000 baht and up to 10,000 or more, while at the opposite end of the spectrum 500 or less is easily attainable.Pillowtalk said:

Only spent few days in BK last year, but went to a bar absolutely CHOCK FULL of super young Thai girls, all with old, 300lb+ guys. I wanted to take pictures, but my two guy friends were like "you're gonna get us beat up!!"
The girls looked pretty happy at the bar, but Thai people are famous for always putting on a smile, no matter what. When I was inside the ladies bathroom, there were no more smiles. The same girls were lighting up little pills on of pieces of tinfoil, sucking up the smoke with a straw. Probably oxycontin is my guess. Then they go back out to the bar, and it's all smiles and laughs and flirting with the old guys again. Disturbing to say the least.
The worst I ever saw though was at an all-inclusive in the Dominican Republic. Some White guy (maybe 40ish) who was staying there actually brought a local KIDDIE prostitute into the resort for dinner. I mean like an actual CHILD (not even a teen) wearing platform stilettos. Oh man, so disturbing.
That is interesting & i don't doubt this type of thing occurs in a number of establishments in Bangkok.
My understanding is that in some venues, like Coyote bars, the ladies hang with customers in public, but there may be no take out and no boomsie.
Maybe some places have yum yum in the toilet stall while chasing the dragon.
I wonder how young these TGs were & what the nationality of their customers were. I assume there was no ID examination. Thai girls often look several years younger than their Western counterparts of the same age.
It seems where drug abuse is involved, other vices tend to follow, such as the reports of incidences of underage sex workers in the downtown Vancouver crack track.
Thai people are indeed well trained & good at smiling. I suggest their philosophy of life tends to be less serious and more fun loving than the Western. Appearances are more important, & truth matters less than it does to us. But don't get on the "wrong side" of a Thai SO; they have a rep for removing joysticks.

(surprising that lenny hasn't seen it since he too is one of those 'old' guys lol) These things are described by westerners, outsiders, like yourself, and also by local ex-pats and local independent escorts. (the real kind, who go to higher end hotels, not the ones who also negotiate on the street -- not the same thing, and certainly not what I was referring to in an earlier post). I've had friends visiting China say the same thing about old white guys and young women.
I see tant is once again laying the blame for complaint on 'western' indy sps, as tho there isn't a guy in the world who doesn't think the exact same things. All I am saying is there is an easy way to have the mooncake and eat it to: seek out and visit independent escorts who are not being forced to work, or forced to have a quota, or have to work under unpleasant and unsanitary conditions. I have heard the cost of taxi which the ladies use for outcalls is quite high, and usually that's part of why their hourly rate is higher than a bar girl. One Indonesian escort reported she could easily pay $50 for cab fare for one appointment. She also mentioned that those bar and massage parlour sps are only getting a portion of whatever the clients are paying, usually not more than half.
I am not sure why tantalizeme has such a sour (and wrong) opinion of other people who don't share his view. He sees people with ethics about exploitation as jealousy? Why? I don't see that set up as any different from women who choose to travel to do sex work. Sex work or sewing, a lot of the people who set up the operations are criminals and the workers are just as likely as those women to be beaten.

One, hobbyists either can't afford or refuse to pay the going rate for SPs in the home country so they head to a developing country and take advantage of the dramatically lower rates and desperate people. Two, hobbyists can do shit that they can't get away with in the home country such as a 50 years+ and 300 lb+ albino rhino "hanging out" with a young girl barely of age (or under-aged) or forcing SPs to give hour or longer BBBJs. Yes, some of it is schtick. These girls are under intense pressure by their families. There is little insurance in SE Asia, and when there is fire, flood or accident, they are the breadwinner. Often their mom is raising their infant for them while they work, because some deadbeat dad local left them.
Is that a reason to not give them business. Then you better give up your smartphones and cheap lingerie. Because the girls don't want to work in those factories where there is true exploitation. They'd rather live it up in the big cities Gangnum style.

I think the best way to end the argument is to say that if a doctor, psychologist (to use your examples), or an escort enjoys the company of a patient/client and wishes to go out for dinner with them for free, then there is nothing wrong with that.
If there's an escort who, despite enjoying the company of a particular client, will only spend "social" time with him for a fee, then that's her right to choose that as well.

The girl is on a street. In Pattaya the guys don't approach the girls, the girls hustle the guys. She knows what she wants.
Also the city has areas. The nightclub areas where you get young studs full of energy who want to party and fuck the nights away. Then the more quiet areas where older guys go, who have fatter wallets and less stamina.
The girls know what they want, and choose to work the areas where they will get the demographic they are after.
For those that do go, some advice - the streetwalkers are those that usually can't get a job in the bars. Disease, dishonesty, temper tantrums, hidden penises, whatever the reasons, you are usually better off picking up in a bar and paying the barfine.
