I guess I have been to the "wrong places"
Only spent few days in BK last year, but went to a bar absolutely CHOCK FULL of super young Thai girls, all with old, 300lb+ guys. I wanted to take pictures, but my two guy friends were like "you're gonna get us beat up!!"
.
This is commonly reported. (surprising that lenny hasn't seen it since he too is one of those 'old' guys lol) These things are described by westerners, outsiders, like yourself, and also by local ex-pats and local independent escorts. (the real kind, who go to higher end hotels, not the ones who also negotiate on the street -- not the same thing, and certainly not what I was referring to in an earlier post). I've had friends visiting China say the same thing about old white guys and young women.
I see tant is once again laying the blame for complaint on 'western' indy sps, as tho there isn't a guy in the world who doesn't think the exact same things. (hopefully he remembers that no paid advertiser can vote in polls?) All I am saying is there is an easy way to have the mooncake and eat it to: seek out and visit independent escorts who are not being forced to work, or forced to have a quota, or have to work under unpleasant and unsanitary conditions. You'll still pay less than here, which seems to be the main thing (altho no one seems to want to admit just getting and staying in another country is going to cost up to $2000 for a week lol, not including paid date time.)
Keep in mind that bar girl IS happy to see a guy who they hope will take them somewhere else for the night so she doesn't have to do it at one of the shared places, or sleep with the other rejected girls. Dinner, breakfast and possibly shopping for some new things, all good. Being paid for the time also good. Not getting beaten for not getting that $$, also good.
I have heard the cost of taxi which the ladies use for outcalls is quite high, and usually that's part of why their hourly rate is higher than a bar girl. One Indonesian escort reported she could easily pay $50 for cab fare for one appointment. She also mentioned that those bar and massage parlour sps are only getting a portion of whatever the clients are paying, usually not more than half.
I am not sure why tantalizeme has such a sour (and wrong) opinion of other people who don't share his view. He sees people with ethics about exploitation as jealousy? Why? Isn't it perfectly reasonable that a lot of people, especially on the west coast with a more left wing kind of attitude would be against anything that even hints at exploitation, slavery or worse? I just watched a documentary about a guy who operated a clothing factory in Samoa, which had mostly Vietnamese women.

I don't see that set up as any different from women who choose to travel to do sex work. Sex work or sewing, a lot of the people who set up the operations are criminals and the workers are just as likely as those women to be beaten.
A recent story in Toronto had an asian sp called back to work even tho she was given the night off to attend a friend's event. She didn't have a choice, even tho the boss agreed to it earlier that day.
Obviously she wasn't happy about it and the session reflected that. But she did return. Obviously she didn't have a choice, so who knows what she was threatened with if she didn't. I don't know, and neither does tant or anyone else other than her and that boss.
This is a cultural thing. To ignore it is only helping it perpetuate.
During his trial, he was accused of ordering beatings for disobedient employees, starving workers or threatening them with deportation if they complained
The indonesian sp I refer to is happy to be an escort. Because it is better than when she was the GF of a guy who only had her there to be a slave to his daughter, and she was often harrassed and threatened by both his mother and ex-wife. It is the culture, don't deny it and you'll understand what is probably happening behind the scenes with an sp who is working for someone else.
