The second forum rules speaks about respect for members and urges us not to be abusive, insulting, or use derogatory statements.

Whilst negative reviews on this forum have their place they should not descend into the language gutter with body-shaming barbs. Readers will very quickly get your drift and so there is no need to use a sledgehammer to crack a nut! We should never underestimate the power of words.

Reporting trolls and troublemakers does wonders.
If someone is being an asshole, call them on it.
And guys…don’t confuse being an asshole with being witty.

Schrodinger’s Douchebag: the guy who says something stupid and waits to see the reaction. If everyone laughs great, if someone is offended he says the usual “it’s just a joke”.

Flag it and let the mods do the work. Getting into a flame war will likely result in both parties being given infractions, or worse. We need the group to learn to disagree like adults, without resorting to name calling. On top of that, even if the experience is a bad one, the provider is still a human being, there's no need to be degrading or over the top in the insulting of the provider.

Good thread, and I would like to see the same rules applied to all posting, in all threads.
This is supposed to be a forum used by adults, so one would think that we are past the point in life of name calling, but still see it, especially in the political threads.
Also makes it difficult to take those posts seriously, so they are not getting their point across well.

Compared to other forums or boards, PERB is fairly respectful and informative. I credit that to the vigilant and hard work from Mods, insightful sharing from SPs, and generosity of Perbites sharing and supporting each other.

Good points made, although "fairly respectful" is maybe something to be improved. I have read some bad body shaming commentary shot from the hip without any real thought and that I feel is absolutely unacceptable.
