Goddammit, that was disappointing. But it was exciting when they woke up in the last 10 minutes and almost put it into extra time.

What a tough way to end the season. They kept it interesting, but if only they had that effort for at least half the game.

Canucks asleep for 40 minutes and now a couple of too late goals.

Look at the bright side this season is the best in a very long time. Highest point total and players up for post season awards. I hope they can re-sign a couple of rental players that they paid a lot for in trade and picks.
Not a fan of hockey but I could tell that the Canucks lost as the streets were really quiet.

Abysmal performance, just like Game 6.

Can't expect to advance to the conference finals only showing up in the last 10 minutes.

Putting Lafferty and Mik in was a bonehead move by Tocc. We'd have been better off with a couple kids from Abbotsford than those two mouth breathers.

Miller was nowhere to be seen.
Petey had some hustle, but way too late into the series.
Hughes is clearly hurt. Bruised something, he got beat up badly in the Nashville series (what game was it that he went to the bench and was wincing for like 5-10mins???).
Hronek doesn't deserve anything over 5M, prove me wrong.
Couple of bad defensive games from our other D, and we hung Arty out to fucking dry.

Arty deserves the backup spot, unbelievable effort from the Latvian kid 🤴! Thrown into the fire and showed he could handle it. Too bad there was no offense in front of him.

Only two people I saw with some actual hustle tonight were Garland and Lindholm. Clearly the only ones on the bench without a morning tee time tomorrow.

I know we weren't even supposed to be here, but I'm fucking pissed at how this series ended. Had it been a close game the last two I'd of been fine. But the blow out on Saturday, and this disaster has me wanting to punch a hole in the wall.

We brought Demko back too early. Had they let him rest further into Nashville(probs would have went to 7), I think this would have been a different series.

They didn't deserve to win. Oilers outplayed and outworked the Canucks the whole game. Impressed by their defence, since they're known for their scoring.

NO SHOTS on a 4 minute power play? None? Two shots in the first period? At home? In game 7? When you're supposed to come out roaring? Game over right there. Edmonton let them have a hope with that terrible give-away for the C's first goal, but you don't win playing 10 minutes of a 60 minute game. Silov kept them in a game that should have been 5-0 going into the third.

Not sure I even noticed Miller. Pettersson is useless. He spends more time on all fours than two skates. Why is Mikhaev on the ice at all? At least the Oilers had the sense to bench Perry. Hughes is over-played.

I totally agree. How does a team with a huge noisy crowd going crazy come out in the first period and get 2 shots on goal? They could have been behind 3 or 4 nothing after the first period if not for the goalie. They were lucky. Then came out in the second and did nothing again. Give Edmonton credit, their D played really good for most of the last t

I totally agree. They came out to start the game with no energy and a step behind the Oilers with the exception of the first shift. How does that happen on home ice with the energy of the crowd behind you? No excuses, and lucky to be tied after the first period. Bottom line, not enough offence and they let their shaky goalie off the hook until the last half of the third period. Too late, and didn't deserve to win. Give the Oilers credit for their defensive play the last two games. Draisaitl was the difference in the series, consistently scored big goals and assists when they needed them.

No knock on Drai whatsoever, but I'd say Evan Bouchard was the difference maker this series. Contributed offensively when it mattered; 2 of their wins were due to his goals.

Wonder what Silov's next contract will be worth and with whom. That kid earned himself one hell of a boost.

We couldn't even make it through the neutral zone the first 40 mins. Dump and change, or dump and chase for the 1st two periods.

They kept playing 1-2-2 which killed their momentum, and I think if they just trusted Silovs more to run 2-1-2 like we do with Demko in net it could have been a different game. We switched to being more aggressive(2-1-2) in the last 10 minutes and if it wasn't for a brilliant timeout by Knob with 4 minutes left I think we'd have tied it.

Losing Brock left them shook 😳

I think regarding Pettersson this is legit that he had a knee injury. He really slowed down and seemed less mobile n the back half of the season. It makes sense that he was dealing with tendonitis.

I know we were chasing a conference title, but fuck me why didn't they rest his ass.
Perfect storm of stupidity?

Player believes he has to go out there and prove something (maybe includes some pressure from teammates?)
Medical staff and trainers know its only tendonitis and leave it up to the player to decide (see above)
Coach relies on player veracity and medical/trainers diagnosis and prognosis.

But yeah, they could have sat him for a while to prepare for the playoffs.

The dimwitted narrative that 'its up to the player blah-blah-blah' loses sight of the fact that in this instance, he is your top player and should be managed to ensure he can play at his best, not some half-assed level where he's as much a drag on the team as the driver of production he is supposed to be.

Should have sat him at the ASG for about 4-6 weeks.

They really are Canada‘s team, the Canucks sure could use a bit of that

People like to point this shit out, but understand that professional sports teams are PAID MERCENARIES.
If you want to watch people playing for their country instead of $$$, you watch the Olympics (which Bettman hates, not surprisingly).
