in the last approx. 24 hrs Preds,'Nucks,Sens all dodge the elimination bullet, giving us 7 games this wkend, much better than 4,which would.ve been the case had they not rallied.

Sens got a BIG win in Mtl tonight,I really thought the Habs were gonna finish it at home.

Rangers&Ducks get to rest a bit before Round 2.

MacTavish seems to be the odd man out at this time, but I wouldn't be surprised if Katz finds a spot for him in the organization rather than get rid of him (another lateral move for the 'old boys').

What I don't get is why now all of a sudden do the Oilers finally GET IT!

Bob Nicholson and Peter Chiarell Hired it's almost like Katz has become tired of being a joke. I wonder if he'll leave Bozo the clown at home this year. Or get his stupid kid in a suit and off the freaking stage.
maybe it has to do with that brand new stadium under construction…
and imho, going to turn some heads. aesthetically forward-looking and likely to be technologically advanced.
and that means cost of building such a stadium will come with a high price tag.

not sure what the price of season and individual tix for an Oiler game is right now but
I'm betting it will increase and fans can't be expected to shell hard earned bucks for
a mediocre product on ice.

but Chiarelli now in the mix should turn this franchise around. he's got complete autonomy
under Nichols, who did wonders for the Canadian program.
got a feeling those young guns are gonna get a rude awakening.

and the search for the right coach begins.

the process of assembling a contending team with fiscal responsibility is a difficult one.
so many moving parts, yet it takes only one bad apple in the chain of commands to kibosh a vision
be it management or player. and deep pockets isn't necessarily the answer.

Flyers should take note.

UFC strips Jon Jones of LHW Championship and suspends him indefinitely. Daniel Cormier will now face Anthony Johnson for the vacant title in May. (Fox Sports)

few thoughts....

speculation re Mike Babcock's future; why would he leave Det?unless there's behind the scenes issues we're unaware of.

he'd be nuts to go to Tor.,who needs the headache?

wonder if he'd be intrigued by Edmonton?

2nd round approaching....

Hawks-Wild s/b a gd one.Wild have big edge in goal, but that can change pdq

clock strikes midnight for flames, tho' I'd love to see them park Ryan-the-rectum.

Habs&Rangers to the conference finals.

hoping for Manny but Mayweather is so gd defensively, Pacman may not get many gd shots in.it might be a disappointing affair cuz it takes 2 to make a fight&Floyd will not want to mix it.
hope I'm wrong, hope it's a brawl&Manny ko's him, but wouldn't bet on it.

Well there's always the Whitecaps.

We're top of the league right now, with a very exciting team. We play fast, smart soccer with a steadfast defence and a crushing counterattack. The games are crazy fun to go to.

Oh, and my season ticket cost $400.

I suppose that "must-win" should be defined as a game where a team is facing elimination, but, the Habs do NOT want to head to TB down 0-2,so this avvo's matchup
could be called damn-sight-better-not-lose.

Is anybody else thinking that Chicago, while wiiners of 5 of 7 playoff games to date, are looking less than outstanding?
One thing they've shown is resiliency, giving up 3 goals in one period 3 times, and each time coming back to win.
They just don't seem to be firing on all cylinders yet.

I'm hoping(not betting) on a final four of Chi-Cal and Mtl-NY,but it could easily end up the exact opposite.

Once upon a time long, long, ago there was a season when neither the Leafs nor the Canadiens made the post season playoffs.

It seemed so unusual, that the management of both teams got together and decided that there should be some sort of competition

between the two teams because of their great rivalry.

So, they decided on a week-long ice fishing competition. The team that catches the most fish at the end of the week wins.

So on a cold Northern Ontario lake they began their contest. The first day after 8 hours of fishing the Canadiens had caught 100 fish

and the Leafs had 0. At the end of the 2nd day the Canadiens had caught 180 fish and the Leafs 0.

That evening the Leafs coach got his team together and said, "I suspect some kind of cheating is taking place".

So the next morning he dressed one of his players in Canadien colours and sent him over to their camp to act as a spy.

At the end of the day he came back to report to the coach. The coach asked, "Well, how about it, are they cheating?"

"They sure are," the player reported. "They're cutting holes in the ice!

in the aftermath of the Habs' self-destruct, PK Subban came out with this gem...."If you eliminate the power play goals,we're the better team out there."
It shows you can't put one over on ol' PK.

It's like asking,"Other than that,Mrs.Lincoln, did you enjoy the play?"

I'm a Habs' fan but this guy is as dumb as a tree full of dead owls.

grusse,
I was surprised how well the Bolts moved the puck so well on the PP.

the Habs are in dire straits at 0-3, as is Minny. Caps in the driver seat at 3-1.

hands up if you predicted Cal-Ana would be the closest series at this point?
granted, that last bit could change tonight.

before the playoffs began I expected most series would be 2-2 after 4 games.
to date,of 11 series, 3 have been tied 2-2 after 4 games(not including tonight's Flames-Ducks game)

unpredictability,to me, is one of the beauties of sport.

don't think anyone expected the Habs to be down 0-3.
thats two games won with less than a second in these playoffs-
the other was Game 1 Caps vs Rangers. great to watch if one
just enjoys the game and not necessarily rooting for a team.

not quite time to tag the big toe on the Habs! tho' I wish they'd saved cpl goals for Saturday(I know how ridiculous that is,lol)

still, live to fight one more day.

Hawks close the deal and get a few extra days, gold at this time of year, to help with treating the inevitable hurts every team has.
Flames can do them a huge favor with a win tomorrow to extend Ducks further.

I'm a Habs fan, but I wonder about PK Subban(see his quote above on the 6-2 Game 2 shellacking)

his latest pearl of wisdom?.....he says TB goalie Ben Bishop has been "lucky", attaboy PK, give 'em something to put on the bulletin board.
actually, the Bolts will likely just laugh at him, that's who he is.

having said that, another do-or-die for les Habitants, trying to extend the series another game.

we could be down to the final 4 by Sun night.hope not.

Regardless of tonight's result or of that in the series, the Habs really need to address the fact that they are thin down the middle. Plekanec is not a #1 centre and would benefit from them making a deal to bring a legitimate one in. This will probably mean giving up a top 6 forward and a prospect and/or a high draft pick. The Markov signing has really hurt them, as his dollars could have been better spent addressing this or those dollars could be used to re-sign Jeff Petry, who IMO has been the best Canadiens skater over the last month or so. Plekanec will flourish in this role, similar to what has happened to Kesler in Anaheim.

The other solution is for Therrien (who should be go in favour of Babcock, if it were possible), needs to let Galchenyuk, loose. Don't try to turn him into a two-way player, just let him score. If he centres Pacioretty and Gallagher, those guys can offset and defensive liabilities he may have. The hbs don't need to constantly be lighting the lamp with Price in net, all they need is to score just a little bit more and a little bit more consistently in order to be the top dogs in the East.
