More freeloaders coming to Canada? A ship carrying so call refugees will be arriving here in BC. Regardless whether they are terrorists or not they should be sent back to where they came from. That goes for anyone coming here illegally. My family (parents, uncles, aunts and cousins from HK)have spent hundred of dollars to come here the legal way. They should do the same. I hardly feel any sympathy for what ever hardship they have in their own country. They should still go through legal channels.
How many are here now and have skip their case hearing? How many are collecting welfare?
Our money and resources are being wasted on those bums to set up court hearing and for what? So they can disappear somewhere in Canada?
Send them all back. Even the war resistors who came here illegally

between her legs
they will be escorted in by our navy , put up in hotels , given dental and doctor and mental stress checkups , a chef to prepare the Tamil foods and then processed and some sent back home , and the refugees given housing , jobs , schooling, training , and passports.
best to complain to the local MP rather than here on Perb.
put the navy at 200 miles and not let them cross , if they run out of fuel give them some and point them in the direction they came from.

I just thought of something..

I wonder if any of you patronize micros...?

Hm..

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but if that is the case...
wouldn't that make your argument a little unconvincing and your objections a little hypocritical?

I couldn't agree more.

I don't begrudge people trying to escape to find a better life.

I feel a lot of compassion for these people. They didn't choose where they were born. I can only imagine what kind of conditions they went through to get to this point.

No micros for me. I like full sized women.:p

I don't have a real problem with refugees arriving at our shores. The big problem is sifting out the war criminals & scumbags from the rest of the relatively harmless majority.

The lesser problem is sifting out the queue jumping economic migrants from the true refugees. We do need constant immigration to offset our aging population & keep the wheels of industry & commerce humming along.

uh...Edmonton.
This North American continent was built on the dreams and sweat of immigrants. We, much like Australia, have an inbred notion of taking risk....pushing boundaries....making things happen. I've yet to meet a homeless immigrant....imagine the fear in your eyes as you embark on a journey such as theirs. Then give thanks that you don't live in a country that you wish to escape from. "The last one in, close the door" argument is foolish. I have a deep and abiding respect for the law of the land....we have the capacity to deal with them.....and the compassion to see past the letter to the intent.

I am sick of freeloaders coming to this country. People who can't speak english, take jobs away from people who built this country, drive down wages, increase housing prices, eat away at our cpp and old age security, make us accommodate their bizzarre religious requirements, I could go on and on. I am sick of people coming to this country and turning it into shit, they can all fuck off and go back home. Same goes for the americans who want our jobs, our oil, and our water because they ruined their own country. They can all fuck off too. Canada is going downhill fast enough on it's own, it doesn't need any help from foreign countries.

like snif said, "...put up in hotels...", at least that's what the Fraser Corrections Centre will look like compared to Sri Lankan prisons

I totally agree. I tend to think compassion should win over Xenophobia.
I have to say I find it very IRONIC that in the case of the OP, members of his own family were not born here....

I'm sorry OP (can't remember who the OP was, too lazy to check ) if you're so mad that these people are not going through the bureaucracy of the immigration process but instead are cheating by taking the easy way (as you seem to consider it) into Canada but I somehow doubt that your relatives were witnessing their sons being kidnapped-never-to-be-seen-again, imprisoned or killed as civilians simply based on their ethnicity. Just like all wars, it is the civilians who pay.

You should be grateful that your relatives were able to plan and go through the legal immigration process because I am sure refugees would probably choose this way as well if they could, instead of having to leave everything behind because of war...with not much more than the clothes on their backs. It's pretty arrogant of you.

Absolutely, it will save us Hundreds of thousands of dollars....It costs 10k + per person to 'house' someone waiting extradition per year and they won't be sent back for one to two with our fucked up legal system, if at all. Why don't we just fly over their country and drop buckets of money at them?

Free food, free shelter....nothing is free, not when it's paid for by you and me.

I did the so call `shit' job at $4.50/hr back the early 90s. My dad,his sister and two younger brothers spend money to bring in their youngest brother the legal way about 28 years ago. He and his wife put their nose to the grindstone and it paid off. A few years ago he got his custom made dream house built large enough for his four kids and three plus grand kids. His work ethic rubbed off onto his kids. They put their nose to the grindstone and they bought their own cars.

Have I seen `white' people do hotel housekeeping jobs? Yes I have.
Have I seen `white' people working at Burger King for $6-8hr on weekends? yes I have.
