Castro was what he was, there have been worse..much worse and I really don't want this to be a "who's the worse dictator" thread. My question is, what do you think of our Prime Minister and how he is dealing/has dealt with this ?
Was he too profuse in praising Castro as a leader ? Under the circumstances, probably yes...though considering the family ties, understandable. For me personally I don't feel he embarrassed himself or Canada. The fact that he is not attending the funeral is to me a bigger embarrassment to Canada and to himself then anything he has said. At the very least, he should attend as a private citizen though I guess it would be hard to divorce himself from the office. If he wants to use the excuse of "the schedule" then he should send down mom and the wife to represent the family.
