This isn’t a thread on post-Covid fatigue /long-Covid.
Rather, it’s a thread on the fatigue over, welll, just about everything else related to this pandemic (sob!)
What is definitely irking me these days, more than the misinformation and hoarding earlier, if you can believe it, is the lack of information and consistency within govt responses. I can usually defend a policy if it’s based on some data or logic, but I’m just not seeing it these days (for arguments sake, let’s stick to BC for now).
One Covid case in a restaurant? Close it down! 30 cases in a school?Nothing to worry about, keep going to school kiddo’s! No cases in gyms? (That I’ve seen/heard) Close them down! (yes they’re re-opened but why guns closed? Where was the data to show they were hot-spots?) Think you have Covid? Don’t get tested so you’ll just guess if you have it or not (but we’ll make decisions based on numbers from… the most severe cases I guess?). Contact tracing? Too hard, don’t worry about it….
I get that Omicron is a different animal than Delta but the lack of consistent methodology, data, and messaging is what really fatigues me. I can wear a mask all day, every day, not a big deal. I’ve no problem getting vax’d (and really don’t understand the perspective of those who don’t, given all the info out there, but that’s probably a different thread altogether). I’ve no problem staying away from people (kinda prefer it actually! Lol). But the lack of data sharing and lack of consistent actions is maddening. I was pretty pro-Horgan/Henry in the beginning but lately have no faith they are acting in the best interests of citizens, but rather with haphazard response and hopes for ok outcomes.
My biggest fear with Omicron isn’t getting it (what data I’ve seen indicates it’s much less severe) but rather that as this continues to drag out, it’ll morph into something more severe again (worse than Delta) and continue to ravage lives and medical systems.
Rant complete, have a lovely day!
