The hike into Lake Garabaldi is a bit of a grunt, and if i remember right, has some steep trails.
I did the Joffrey Lakes as well, and I'm trying to remember between the two.
I get dropped into some lake areas by helicopter to fight fires, and sometimes hike out...So my memory gets a little fuzzy because there's been so many.
If your going to sleep at either one, you'll need to bring a good ground foam, it's very rocky.
I seem to also recall that there was no permission to build fires, so camp feul for cooking was required.Joffrey lakes is very crowded and wasn't my thing..
It's bear country as well , so seal all food and store it away from your sleeping area, at the approved sites. If you go at the wrong time of year, because it's so high, you need to bring a "Size appropriate sleeping partner"..You know about 190 and can generate some heat for you.
There's nothing worse than sleeping next to a body that feels like a sack of frozen antler.
Or you can just bring a big ole' boy with you that has a firearm permit....and probably runs half as fast as you will ,with a bear on his ass......You'll be fine.
