With some recent executions of prisoners on death row, there was controversy on certain drug combinations that took almost two hours for a prisoner to die. Some people thought it was wrong that it took so long with these new drugs that are not as effective as the previous injection / drugs used. Some people talked about a firing squad.

Wouldn't it be more simpler just to inject a very very high dose of heroin or some other type of drug that is more simpler? I don't know why it's so hard with medical technology nowadays as well.

If someone had killed my mom or raped my sister I would like it to be way fucking longer than two hours and I would want the fucker awake the entire time. I know the system makes errors but there are times when there is 100% surety of guilt and those monsters deserve what they get. Yes I know this is not aligned with most people in BC and I apologize for offending people but I know a family that was totally fucked up by a murder and the victim was tortured. That killed that entire family. The parents and her brothers and her sister have been walking dead for more than ten years. Her fiancé killed himself three years after her body was found (he found it in their apartment). The sick fuck who killed her is actually eligible for parole in about eight more years thanks to Canada's pussy justice system. Two hour death would be way too good for that sick fuck.

Hanging is very effective, quick, and it's cheap. I wonder why they don't do that anymore.

here we go again

Let's see, we have done the big dick thread again recently.

We haven't done our rides in a while or our watches lol.

What about would you date an SP? Oh right, that was done ad nauseam too.

Death Penalty:

My vote is for the status quo in Canada. No executions.

Carry on.

A quick poll of my business associates and friends would indicate that you are actually in the MAJORITY in your opinion of the death penalty.

But in these days when the voices of political correctness overrules all logic, the voices of reason are muted and most peoples honest opinions are left to be expressed only in small gatherings of similar minds.

Another poster expressed the issue of "cruel and unusual punishment" well I guess the original murder committed was NOT "cruel or unusual punishment" for the victim and their family.

Incompetent hangmen.......lost a few heads..too much rope/weight.....a few did a slow strangle, not enough rope/weight....got messy....so they stopped using that method.

The height/weight/drop calculations I believe were pretty much sorted out over the decades hanging was practised - that, and the need to prestretch the rope. Pretty sure someone would bring out an app if it was brought back!

LOL more civilized executions. I am not too sure that public executions are anything but civilized, as throughout time and in all civilizations humanity has sought to execute criminals in public. I say bring back the guillotine if we want something with exactness and an immediate outcome. I say it is the most civilized type of execution that can be made. No misses like a firing squad, no unmeasured lengths of rope or faulty, old and weak rope, no under dosing, no low voltage or power failures.

Give us the most historically civilized executions possible :) Public spectacle and entertainment is part of Civilized Humanity.

In truth, I am an advocate of eliminating the death penalty worldwide, and I find myself to be contra-civilization and very much uncivilized in a manner of speaking. I would rather some criminals rot in prison without the niceties that our prison systems provide these individuals. I am not a bleeding heart humanitarian, therefore I am outraged that prisons hold murderers and rapists and treat these low-lifes with respect. It should be bread and water and working on rock piles. I believe there should be levels of prisoner treatment according to the crimes individuals have committed.

Someone shoot me for expressing a counter opinion :)

I was going to say that, but you beat me to it. The guillotine is 100% effective, and death is virtually instantaneous (some have claimed that the severed heads "live" for a couple of seconds afterward, but I'm skeptical). In any case, I prefer the life sentence option (a REAL life sentence).

Exactly - provide only the basic necessities for a miserable existence with no freedom or hope of ever getting out. That way, they suffer for the rest of their lives, and, in the rare instances of wrongful conviction, the error can be mitigated to some extent. And, no extraordinary means should be taken to prevent suicides.

China has the right idea....a bullet to the back of the head....and the guilty one's family has to pay for the bullet.

also,in many cases, the executed one "donates" organs for transplants.

Yup........yet at one of the last hangings at Oakalla, his head came off..........

Having the calculations sorted out is one thing..............using them properly is another.

did you ever watch the tom hanks movie 'the green mile?'

warning: the following is definitely not suitable for all audiences!!

the rookie running the execution thought he would be a smartass and he didn't soak the sponge in saline water the way he was supposed to, in order to make sure the current was drawn into the convict's head and ensure a quick death. the results were rather gruesome to say the least

It's admirable that all these people are saying they have no problem with a person dying to satisfy their personal need for justice. Personally, I choose Life Sentences because our justice system is fallible and there are many documented cases of wrongful judgement.

I doubt anyone posting here would ever pull the switch, push the injection button, pull the hangman's noose over someone's head or put a bullet in someone. That's for the internet tough guys who never get their hands dirty.

I know cops who have pulled their triggers and Canadian Soldiers who have killed people.

They will tell you that you never forget killing someone and I can testify that they are changed people as a result.
