(Besides being ignorant sexist),Charity being the name of your fave SP?
Convertibles are mostly for women since once you make a car convertable you drop a lot of performance simply from the physics of it.
that opinion is has about as much logic as "I don't roll my windows down or open the sunroof, because I lose gas mileage"; and, well, echoes of a mentality who knows not appreciation of the finer and 'funner' things in life.
Are you a NFA? A "No Fun Allowed" guy?
"Performance"? "Physics"???
Have you ever driven a convertible? If you did, you might discover a love driving just for the sake of itself. I've owned a classic '67 convertible for years, and there's nothing quite like it! The very best memory was a roadtrip to Yosemite. With the top off, sunshine and 360 degree views...
Back in the very early days of aircraft, all tops were off. Nothing was enclosed. Pilots of the day both appreciated and bemoaned the advent of enclosed canopies. Out of the weather , yes. But no more of the grandness of flying with your scarf trailing in the wind!
Some sunny August day you should grab your favourite girl, rent a convertible manly Mustang (or whatever), pack the plaid blanket, wine and picnic basket, and drive to Whistler. Top down. See what happens! *
(*NOTE: I doubt you'll notice - or care - the difference in "performance" with the top off that machine)...!!!!!!!!!!!!!
