Oh sure buddy.....give the Mods another reason to review my account.....
If I had another account I'd come up with something less obvious....like Sybian2....or Sygetsbannedalot.

But thanks for remembering I don't, nor can have a phone.
I know you have good sense of humor cowboy! Just in case you thought it otherwise, I said that as a joke my friend. :) (Mods please note)

I say hello once, if nobody responds within about a second, I've already hit the end call button.

Occasionally if they speak up before I have a chance to hang up, if its a guy I cut them off and politely decline their offer. If it is a female, I get all creepy on her.
"You sound nice, what do you look like?" "What are you wearing right now?" "Are you a dirty girl?"
They hang up pretty quick. LOL!

Today, while I was having lunch....

Her: Good Afternoon, Is this Mr. T.

Me: Yes, I am. How can I help you?

Her: Oh, I am fine thanks for asking. How is your day going?

Me: It was going good till you called!!!

I slam the phone down.

Have you ever been rude to Shaw, Telus, Revenue Canada, Microsoft, Windows, Credit Bureau, Credit Card company, CIBC, CCIB, CCBB, BCCIC, CiCCB, ABCD, FUMF................. ?

I’m willing to bet their not inspired or excited to be working the job they have. While it may be annoying for you, they have to make calls like this all day every day.

Judge a man based on how he treats the janitor, not the CEO.

Now that is funny right there! ;)

I should ask one someday if she would like to be spanked...naked in her bedroom by me. That should get me put on the don't call again list.

No upside to be rude, I just hang up. More bothersome to me is evening door to door canvassing by Telus or charities. I’m not rude, but I want to be.

I worked at Rogers years ago, and similarly did the door to door campaign with Shaw as well when they entered the market for phone services. You don't want to be rude to people who have access to your phone records, your SIN, your address, or your personal info on file. I worked in the corporate side of Rogers and we used to get all sorts of people running businesses call in and make a fuss over the smallest things, in many cases they'd get rude and sometimes go overboard beyond anything. Many agents would out of spite pass information over to CRA on some of the business customers and they'd make an outrageous claim against the business and CRA would usually audit these places. Mind you these were people with too much on their hands who did sort of shit on their personal time. Some would go in person to these shops and make a fuss in a similar fashion. People are fucked up that way. I remember one guy made a complaint to the liquor board against a restaurant claiming that they were serving alcohol to minors. Not sure I'd the LDB investigated, but all they have to do is show up after a certain time order liquor and they can get their liquor license suspended if they serve booze after a certain time. Best thing to do is not answer the phone if you're not expecting a call or if it's not from a number you recognize. I don't get why people have to answer every phone call they get and then get upset that its someone they don't want to hear from.

The Mandarin language ones are brutal. A young colleague of mine told me she had to leave work in the middle of the day with a vague explanation of an emergency after speaking on the phone in Mandarin for a few minutes. I asked what was wrong, and was told she’d rather not talk about it. It immediately seemed odd as whenever she answers her phone speaking Mandarin, she’s is normally silly goofy etc but this time she went from neutral to aloof by the end of the conversation. Before she left I became suspicious of the caller and took another run at her asking who had called. She told me the call came from an investigator by way of the Consulate General of China here in Vancouver. Apparently she didn’t fill out a form properly visiting China years previous( she isn’t Chinese) and she now needed to arrange to pay a fine. The caller iD showed the actual phone number for the Consulate. He refered her to a fake government website where his identity could be verified. The most sinister aspect of the would be scam though is that in addition to telling her to go home, to cease all communications and make arrangements to pay the fine, he wanted her family contact information. After looking this up it turns out the scammer will then threaten parents back in Asia saying they have their son or daughter, who at that point could have isolated hemself, and demand a ransom. We don’t know how, but they had her name, and she was manipulated into telling them more which shaped the con. Because she was tricked into telling them she had been to mainland China, they made up some customs offence but would likely have come up with other BS depending on her answers.
I can unequivocally say fuck these people!

Sorry man but I have a hard time believing this.
My phone company knows my name, address and phone number. They certainly don't have my SIN or know anything about the finances or other intricacies of my business to tell others. CRA just doesn't take some anonymous callers information as gospel. You need to provide them with some pretty compelling information on the individual's or business' tax and financial situation for them to even take a look at someone. Otherwise they would have every single agent and auditor spending their careers chasing false leads called reported by every angry boyfriend, ex-spouse, neighbor, co-worker or phone company employee out there.

Yes, people trying to scam people don't garner much sympathy from me.

This was over 10 years ago in my case when people would have to give a SIN to get started with a new account or their corporation number. You might have forgotten that you ever had to give that info. I wasn't the person with that type of time on his hands, but there were plenty of people that were vengeful enough to put in the effort. It doesn't take much to get the CRA to do an audit on a business if the person comes up with a good enough story. An audit doesn't mean a business would get fucjed over, it's more of an inconvenience to have to get your paper work together reach out to your accountant and have him clear the issue up. The one guy that would do it was some lose who had orginally worked in CRA himself and the other guy was taking accounting classes in school, so those were the goons who knew what to say to the CRA. The rest were just writing bad reviews on yelp or online resources at the time sometimes, or calling ldb and having restaurants investigated.

If you say so but I respectfully disagree you.
I've been in the business world for +35 years and have never given any phone company (including Rogers) my SIN.
As well I have been Audited twice by CRA and have a good friend who is a forensic accountant for CRA. I know how audits work and how they are triggered.
I guess we both have our opinions on this particular subject.

Cheers

The nice thing about a phone call is that you can kill it with the press of a button. What bugs me are crap like Just Energy door knocking salesmen etc with scam contracts. One Saturday a few years back on the evening I was hosting my monthly pooner poker game I was busy in the kitchen and the doorbell rang and I asked a guest to answer the door and he did so.He called up from the door that it was a Just Energy rep and I said "tell him to fuck off and slam the door in his face or you dont get to eat dinner".....I got a prompt "fuck off" and the door got slammed LOL as my guest held allegiance to ME.
