I'm not defending the NDP in Alberta. But I am saying that the misery that exists in the province has little to do with the NDP and everything to do with the price of crude. You live by the sword, you die by the sword. And any real Albertan knows that. The economy is like the weather in Alberta, most of the time it's blue skies and sunny, but when the storm comes it's fucking brutal. And this storm is a long one.
you're using it as an excuse, like the NDP are, like the PC's did as well
the problem has existed since Klein, it spun up even more with Eddy the spineless Stelmach and has been ramped up to the extreme with the NDP
we're still paying and spending based on 150 oil
we should have been spending on 50 oil the whole time, if they kept the increases to rate of inflation and pop growth, we wouldn't be in this situation, we'd have a small deficit
we've had deficits for over a decade now, out of control spending is the problem, not the price of oil
even if oil went back to 150, we'd still have a deficit, bases on their spending
fiscal accountability, discipline is the issue
when you're talking about "PUBLIC SERVICES" which is the constant bullshit the NDP keep spouting
that is nothing more than "PUBLIC WAGES", which is around 40-50% of the budget
which in Alberta we pay more than everyone else, we're about 2G's per person above the next province
and that's even with a few yrs of zero increases for some
the NDP couldn't even raise taxes high enough to cover their desires of spending
our deficit is 4X the combined other provinces deficits this yr
their whole plan is to tax and spend, mostly spend
and they've been in power 2yrs, so they own it now
they need to cut wages, cause they can't tax their way out of it
