I am going to play the Devil's Advocate, like I often do ? because I am an asshole and I enjoy being an asshole.

Humans are Discriminatory because they have free will and are free to make choices. So if a service provider advertises she won't see clients of a particular race, it doesn't make her a racist. We don't know why she is making that choice.

While she might indeed be a racist, we should not be accusing her of being one.

If I won't go see white Service Providers, no one really knows why I am making that choice. In that instance no one is going to call an old white guy a racist.

Now if I won't book a green alien Service Provider, again no one really knows why I am making that choice. Am I a racist if I prefer Grey Alien Service Providers? I say no I am not.

Someone will claim (rightly or wrongly) I am a racist and although I am discriminatory and indeed may fit your description of being a racist, I am not. Racism needs one more ingredient to truly manifest itself as racism and that is hate and bigotry.

So if I say that all Green Aliens are smelly, ugly and disgusting and I throw sticks and stones at them yelling slurs like ET go back home to your shithole Planet, I would say that there is a 99.9998 % chance that I am a fucking racist and deserve to be labelled a racist.

We need to stand against hatred and respect everyone's freedom of choices.

I found one on Craigslist before they banned Service Provider ads. Either she was a green coloured alien or just a white girl who ate something bad before seeing me and ended up turning green and having foul breath.

Use the search engine on LL in any city all across Canada for the term "No blacks". Many, perhaps 1/3 of the posts using this restriction are from black women. Try the same thing for "no whites" and let everyone know what results you get.

All honest observation will show that you are either lying or completely delusional. The reality is that ONLY permissible racism in Canada is against white people, and only white people. See Section 15.2 of the Constitution or the Employment Equity Act. And then of course the casual racism you display in this thread with your comments.

Okay, this is just wrong on so many levels.

First of all, if you have to name check groups of people who do not even exist anymore, then you are grasping at straws, here. No one is saying slavery didn’t exist before chattel slavery (the very specific and brutal form of slavery instituted by Europeans). They are saying it is fucked up and has affected the lives of millions of black people to this very day. The present circumstances is the main problem here. The descendants of the Moors also have fucked up problems of their own, but that does not let white people off the hook. That is some serious messed up thinking.

Second, the white slavery you are talking about is a myth that has been mixed up with indentured servitude. Lots of white Irish were forced to come to North America to work off debt through extremely low waged labour in extremely harsh conditions. It sucked and was a crime against humanity, but was not slavery. They were not owned by anyone. Their work had a specific start and end date. They were not held against their will and bred and then their children transformed into slaves. It was a totally different circumstance that I actually use to illustrate the sins of Capitalism, so thank you for bringing that up.

Charlee is discriminating against white people who continually deny the horrors they and their ancestors have committed (once again that is not racism). She is probably cool with white people who admit to and try to make amends for a society that punishes people based on 8 gene sequences out of 3 billion.

Anyone who thinks that white people created slavery is delusional, and racist. White people did not create it, but we ENDED slavery. Those are incontrovertible facts.

In North America, slavery was very specifically for black people. Irish weren't ever slaves. Black people weren't seen as fellow human beings, and were consistently dehumanized. In some places, they still are. It created a huge backlash when a black man got elected president.

In ancient societies, going back to the Moors, Ottomans, Romans, etc, slavery wasn't racial. Any tribe or culture that was conquered was enslaved, or treated as second class citizens.
